Football: Report card
Ohio at Miami
Pass offense
B
Another good day for sophomore Chris Givens, who had five catches for 72 yards and an 18-yard touchdown, and junior Brayden Coombs also came up big with three receptions for 42 yards, including one for 31 yards. Daniel Raudabaugh completed 26-of-41 passes, but nothing longer than 31 yards, and he was intercepted twice. But how about Jake Richardson? He completed a 16-yard pass on a fake punt Friday, a year after doing the same thing (for 24 yards) against the Bobcats. His career passing totals: 2-for-2 for 40 yards.
Run offense
B
It’s good to see Andre Bratton fulfill some of his potential with 17 carries for 100 yards. On the other hand, there was that 26-yard loss on the fumbled pitch that Chris Givens had to cover.
Pass defense
C
A lot like last week’s performance. Boo Jackson was efficient, completing 15-of-20 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Robbie Wilson did come up with his third interception of the season and seventh of his career. And Travis Craven had a sack.
Run defense
F
Chris Garrett, 222 rushing yards. The Bobcats, 326 rushing yards. Enough said.
Special teams
B
Place-kicker Nathan Parseghian ended a magnificent season with a perfect 4-for-4 performance. Jake Richardson wasn’t so fortunate. His slim chances of finishing his career as the nation’s leading punter pretty well went down the drain with that 19-yard punt. But he still broke two school records, one for single-season punting average (45.25), breaking his the record of 45.0 he had shared with Gary Layton (1994), the other for career punting average (42.77).

The effort against Ohio seemed slightly better than that against Toledo. “I can’t say we don’t have regrets,” said Miami senior linebacker Mickey Mann, “but we definitely fought till the end.”

Football: Miami loses again

For the second time in three seasons the Miami University football team has finished 2-10 overall. The RedHawks lost their season finale 41-26 to the Ohio Bobcats at Yager Stadium on Friday.

Football: Ohio still leads Miami in fourth quarter

The Miami University football team is keeping it close against the Ohio Bobcats, trailing 27-19 early in the fourth quarter.
Mickey Mann blocked a Bobcat punt early in the third period and Chris Givens ran it back 60 yards to pull the RedHawks to within a point, 17-16, but Ohio answered with a 51-yard touchdown pass from Boo Jackson to Taylor Price.
Nathan Parseghian kicked his fourth field goal of the day, from 22 yards, but Ohio answered again with a 21-yard field goal by Barrett Way.
Parseghian’s field goal was his 20th of the year to tie the Miami single-season record.

Football: RedHawks settling for field goals

It’s halftime at Yager Stadium and the Ohio Bobcats hold a 17-9 lead over the Miami RedHawks, whose offense has managed only three field goals by Nathan Parseghian.
Ohio has rolled up 221 yards of total offense and scored both of its touchdowns in the second quarter on a 22-yard run by Chris Garrett and a 3-yard touchdown pass from Boo Jackson to Terrence McCrae.
Paeseghian’s field goals have come from 35, 39 and, on the final play of the half, 34 yards. He has converted 19-of-22 field goal attempts this season and is just one field goal short of the single-season record of 20, set by Gary Gussman in 1987.
Jake Richardson has not had a good day in his quest to lead the nation in punting. He has punted twice with a 30.5-yard average. His second punt, late in the first quarter, traveled only 19 yards.

Football:Bobcats lead RedHawks 3-0

The Ohio Bobcats lead the Miami RedHawks 3-0 after one quarter Friday, Nov. 28 at Yager Stadium.
Ohio got its points on a 19-yard field goal by Barrett Way with 5:00 left in the quarter following a goal-line stand by the RedHawks. The Bobcats had first-and-goal from the 1-yard line but were unable to punch the ball into the end zone.
In the student bleachers there were more than 100 fans but fewer than 200. Miami’s students are on holiday break.
