It’s NOT easy being green?

Some teachers like Karen Vome at Western Row Elementary in Mason are taking it upon themselves to be more environmentally sensitive.

I met Karen Vome earlier this year when she was given a Project Excellence Award through the Warren County Area Progress Council for being an innovative teacher. She’s the science chair at Western Row.

Each week, she sends a message to everyone in her building, showing them ways they can conserve energy. She reminds staff members to use fewer paper towels in the restrooms, turn off classroom lights and computers at the end of the day and recycling old newspapers and magazines.

Do you know a teacher like Karen Vome who tries to make us aware of our affect on the earth? Shoot me an e-mail or comment here to highlight a special teacher.
