Beer and bands on tap this weekend
The last weekend in August is jam-packed with opportunities to sip some brew while enjoying live performances by local favorites.
Blind Bob’s Third Anniversary
Celebrate three years of fun at Blind Bob’s with their always enjoyable mix of beer, good friends and great local music at a four-night celebration. (Started Thursday night)

The remaining line-up of local music:
Friday: By Way of Sunstorm, Electric Banana, New Vega, Oh Condor (formerly 8bit Revival) and Roley Yuma.
Saturday: Astro Fang, Nightbeast w/ God Bless & Asher Jones, Auburndale, The Sound For Language and Grenades!?
Sunday: Rad Company, Oakland, Abertooth Lincoln, Back Stabbath and Adventure.

When: 9 p.m. Aug. 25-28
The bite: $5 per night or $12 for a four-night pass
’90s Musical Tribute
If you miss grunge, gansta rap and cell phones the size of your head, this is a can’t miss event . A musical tribute to the decade that brought us alt rock gods and boys in pop bands. Featured performers include Side Show, Market St. Dream, Matter of Chance, Good Sir Con Artist, White Powder, The Flesh Pets, Okay Lindon and Wade Baker.
Where: Canal Street Tavern, 308 E. First St., Dayton
When: 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26. Doors open at 8 p.m.
The bite: $5 cover charge
Pre-AleFest Party
Warm up those beer tasting muscles for Saturday’s big event with some craft beer and live music at the Trolley Stop. Andrew Varner and Skilless Villains will bring the music, you provide the taste buds.
Where: Trolley Stop, 530 E. Fifth St., Dayton
When: 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26
The bite: $5 charge after 9 p.m.
*AleFest is from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Carillon Park. Cost is $40 for 20 samples.
Bier-a-Palooza
Boston’s wraps up its weeklong celebration of all things hoppy with several tasty tappings this weekend. On Friday at 5 p.m., enjoy a special tapping of 2010 Smuttynose Barleywine. On Saturday at 1 p.m., they’ll have a 3-year vertical tasting of Bell’s Hopslam.
Plus a special tapping of Goose Island Pepe Nero, a farmhouse ale .
Where: Boston’s Bistro and Pub, 7500 N. Main St., Dayton
When: Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26-27.
The bite: No cover charge.

Why isn’t Bostons going to be at Alefest? Seems like one of the best beer bars in Dayton should be involved with Dayton’s beer fest.

I’d like to know the same thing….I’ve heard that other businesses were denied involvement also..& with no reason supplied. Ask MJ’s in The Quad why they were denied..I’d like some explanation as to why Boston’s (NORTH OF TOWN) was not represented.
