Nostalgia on tap at 2 ’80s-themed events this weekend
It’s shaping up to be an ’80s-tastic weekend in Dayton. If you’re still preoccupied with 1985, head to one of these local shows for a dose of nostalgia.
Joan Jett vs. Billy Idol Tribute Show
Vex is hosting a retro-flashback battle of the ’80s rock stars this Thursday featuring Jasper the Colossal, Good English and NPD. See all three acts for just $5. Plus they’ll be drawing a winner for two Billy Idol tickets. If you’ve entered to win the tickets at a previous ’80s Night, then make sure you’re there, because you must be present to win.
Where: Club Vex, 101 S. St. Clair St., Dayton
When: Doors open at 9 p.m., Thursday, July 22
The bite: $5 cover charge
Stranger
Enjoy some live ’80s music poolside this Friday when cover band Stranger takes the stage at Sharkey’s outdoor stage.
Where: Sharkey’s Poolside Lounge, Marriott Dayton, 1414 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton
When: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday, July 23
The bite: $5 cover charge
K99 Block Party
Although not strictly an ’80s band, you’re bound to hear some great classic rock covers when the boys of Red Moon play the Town Square at The Greene, Friday. In addition to the live tunes, enjoy $2 beers courtesy of Bud Light Lime, raffles prizes and giveaways, food from Subway, and a Harley Davidson display. One of the prizes being raffled off is a trip for two on the Bud Light Port Paradise Cruise. All proceeds from alcohol sales will benefit the Pink and Chrome Ride for the Cure, an open motorcycle event in October to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Greater Cincinnati.
Where: The Greene Town Square, 51 Plum St., Beavercreek
When: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday, July 23
The bite: Free
