Four bar events that scream summer
Although the temperature has been sky high lately, this is actually the first official week of summer. Celebrate the season’s arrival with these bar best bets.
Battle for X-Fest
It’s definitely summer when every X-fan’s thoughts turn to Dayton’s annual all-day rock party - X-Fest. Although the big day is still months away, local bands have been competing for their chance to rock out with the big boys and now they need your vote.
Thanks to 103.9 the X, Cricket and McGuffy’s House of Rock, one of these four bands will advance to the play the Local-X stage at X-Fest 15: No Tomorrow, Chapter III, Tarravoid, or Desalitt.
Where: McGuffy’s House of Rock, 5418 Burkhardt Rd., Dayton
When: Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 9 p.m., Friday, June 25
The bite: $5 for 21 and up, $8 for 18-20. Must be 18 or older with proper ID to enter.
Bikini Bash
Another sure sign of summer? Bikinis. L.A. Tan is sponsoring a sexy bikini contest this Friday at South Beach Nite Club. First, second and third place winners will get cash and tanning packages.
If your body isn’t bikini ready, or never has and never will be, that’s no problem. DJ Chris Rock will be heating up the dance floor while the Splash Hotties and Cuervo Girls hand out Jello shots and other treats. Where: South Beach Nite Club, 729 Lyons Rd., Centerville
When: 9 p.m., Friday, June 25
The bite: All ladies get in free before 11 p.m., call (937) 439-9040 for more information.
Another Bikini Bash
If you didn’t get enough Friday night, head to Vex on Saturday for (you guessed it!) a bikini contest. The crowd will pick the winner so bring lots of friends to cheer if you plan on entering. Ladies in bikini tops get in free until 11 p.m. and $2 bubble gum vodka drinks all night. Any group of eight or more including six ladies gets a free VIP table and bottle.
Where: Club Vex, 101 S. St. Clair St., Dayton
When: 9 p.m. - 3:30 a.m., Saturday, June 26
The bite: Call (937) 222-7620 for cover charge information. Must be 18 or older to enter with proper ID.

New Holland Brewing Company in Michigan is celebrating it’s 13th year in the beer making biz by taking some of their unique Mad Hatter IPAs on tour. Sawgrass will be playing live and you can get free Mad Hatter stuff with every beer purchase.
