Two reasons to head to the bars this weekend

We give you two reasons to head to the bars on Friday… as if you really needed any reason.

Gothic Arts Expo at Vex

What are you into? Gothic music, art, body art, performance art? Vex is bringing it all together this Friday at the Gothic Arts Expo. Listen to CBM, Gothic, Industrial, Darkwave and Synthpop provided by guest DJs Kevy Kev and Broken Boy, and favorites DJ Kris and Matt Freeman. See the talents of artists including Dark Mannequin Designs, Stillborn Photography, Neo Elegance Designs, body piercing by Rozz from Monkey Bones and much more.

Where: Club Vex, 101 S. St. Clair St., Dayton

When: 9 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11

The bite: $5, 18 and up welcome

End of Summer Bash at South Beach

Put on that bikini one last time ladies. Just make sure it’s not white! Labor Day might have marked the unofficial end of summer, but South Beach isn’t ready to let the party die out. They’re holding a bikini contest with cash prizes. Plus every lady that shows up in a bikini gets in for only $1.

Where: South Beach Night Club, 729 Lyons Road, Centerville

When: Friday, Sept. 11 at 9 p.m.

The bite: Call (937) 439-9040 for cover charge information

Hey, Ladies!?! Wanna get treated like a piece of meat and manhandled, then disrespected if ya don’t go home with any of the losers?? Then go to South Beach! Should be awesome! Bring your mace, tazers & rape whistles!!

I agree. I think our folks @ the newspaper should check into the places the advertise for. South Beach has always been a “meat market” and the male patrons don’t like being told no. My best friend was followed home from there one night. Very scary!

Want a good easygoing place to relax, or on certain evenings, listen to a known local band ? Go to the Paradise Key cafe. ( it was formerly the Need- one-more. ) They have a Polanesian atmosphere and also an outside patio for smokers. Good food at a reasonable price, and something going on almost every day.

How about the Dublin Pub this weekend? A very nice, friendly atmosphere and two events that are noteworthy this weekend- Friday a fundraiser for Autism Speaks with Homeland and Roger Drawdy and the Firestarters and Saturday is the Half-way to St. Pats Day with Homeland. Avoid the meat markets and do something good for charity this Friday!

No thank you, I will NEVER go to the Dublin Pub again. We were treated very rudely by the staff, and I will never step foot in that establishment again.
