New Beers Eve. A once-in-a-lifetime event.

Happy belated Beerniversary, everybody! Seventy-five years ago on April 7, 1933, beer became legal again. And the first day of sales reaped a whopping $7.5 million in tax receipts for the U.S. Treasury with “New Beers Eve” providing a huge economic boost during the Great Depression with more than 1.5 million barrels of beer gone in the first 24-hours. According to an interview on the CNN Web site, with Julia Herz, the spokeswoman for the Brewers Association that represents smaller “craft” brewers this is still a big deal today.
