Tributes to Hawthorne guitarist abound

The outpouring of fan reaction on the Web to news of Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert’s death has been steadily growing into a virtual avalanche of response. Looking at the condolence book on the Dayton Daily News Web site just now had 15 pages packed with touching reaction from fans and friends. MTV has posted a story with bands like Fall Out Boy and Plain White T’s paying tribute and speaking out to the loss. Many of the comments from fans and fellow musicians speak to his ability to connect with all kinds of people on a very basic, real level.

A recent search for “Casey Calvert” on YouTube brought up 127 results. Here’s a video posted by a fan with a comment from houstoncalls9790 towards the top that says: “casey is my cousin and this video is truly beautiful. i just showed this to my mom and we both watched it in tears cause it really showed who he was. casey was an amazing cousin to me and an even more amazing husband. he loved his step sisters more than you could imagine and he was just an all around amazing person. please keep our family in our prayers. and once again, this video..and the many tributes to case that are on youtube right now are really amazing” The video starts out with a lot of text, but it eventually leads into photos and music.

Have you seen any good tributes or have a story to share? Go to the condolence link at the top or share it here. I never met him, but he sounds like a very funny guy that enjoyed his life, his band, his family, friends and fans.
