Ways to save when dining out

Thanks to a plethora of discounts at area restaurants, eating out doesn’t have to mean spending a lot of money.

The number of coupons and specials at area restaurants may correlate with the growing number of people who are opting to cook their meals at home in order to save money.

According to a new study by Rasmussen Reports, 44 percent of all Americans said they have decreased the number of meals they eat out. In the report, only 4 percent said they are eating out at least three times a week.

What this means for you is lower prices and better deals when you decide to head out to dine.

    In addition to an increase of restaurant coupons in the Sunday newspaper coupon inserts (check yours for discounts at your favorite restaurants) here are some online offers available now:
  • T.G.I. Friday’s: Go here to print out a Buy one Entree Get the 2nd for $5 Off coupon. Only one coupon can be used per table and the offer is not valid on the Three Course Menu. This offer expires Sept. 15.
  • Wendy’s: Head here for a coupon for a free Artisan breakfast sandwich at Wendy’s with any purchase.
  • Bob Evans: Head over to the Bob Evans Facebook page, click on Wall Photos and find a couple of great coupons, including $2 off a Complete Family-Size Meal To Go, $1 off a cappuccino or smoothie, free appetizer with the purchase of two entrees, and a free Kids Meal or slice of pumpkin pie with the purchase of one adult entree. These offers are valid through Sept. 15.
  • Mimi’s Cafe: Click here for a coupon for a free kids meal w the purchase of an adult entree valued at $10 or more. This offer is valid Sunday and Monday from 4 p.m. to close.
  • Fazoli’s: Satisfy your sweet tooth with a free chocolate chunk cookie with the purchase of an adult entree. Find the coupon here.
  • O’Charley’s: Get two entrees for $14.99, no coupon required. Find out about specials at the O’Charley’s near you by going to ocharleys.com and joining the E-Club. There is an O’Charley’s located in Middletown and West Chester Twp.
  • Applebee’s: This is another deal that doesn’t require a coupon. Right now at Applebee’s, get two meals and one appetizer for $20. Find out more here.
  • Pilot: Find the Pilot Facebook page and “Like” them to get a coupon for a free 16-oz. coffee. This offer is valid through Oct. 30.
