Texting while driving is becoming a more common reason for car accidents these days. Driver distraction is what caused a man to rear-end my car, destroying the back-end of my vehicle and sending me to the hospital. Fortunately, both myself and the driver lived to tell the tale. Others aren’t as lucky.
Send your own message to drivers who text with this free bumper sticker. Click here and tell Thumb Wars how you are going to send the message and they will send you 5 free bumper stickers. You have to be age 25 or under to qualify when you register your account. Spread the word.
On this note, I saw a very good sign on Facebook the other day, which I have attached to this blog. From a church, it reads: Honk if You Love Jesus Text While Driving If You Want to Meet Him.

Whether you’re preparing kids for back-to-school or could just use a few things yourself, there are plenty of new discounts available at area stores to help you save while you shop.
- Find the discounts below:
- Join the Shop You Way Rewards Club for Kmart and Sears and receive a 10 percent off coupon at Kmart. This coupon is valid on edibles, health, and beauty care purchases now through Sept. 15. You must scan your rewards card to get the savings. There is a Kmart at 780 Erie Hwy., Hamilton and 625 West Central Ave., Springboro.
- Save 40 percent at Michael’s by printing out your coupon here. This coupon is valid until Aug. 28.
- Pet lovers, become a PetPerks member at Petsmart and get a coupon for a free Purina Pro Plan cat or dog food pouch. Find out more at petperks.petsmart.com. Once you log on, look for the free offer under Petsmart Coupons in the PetPerks section. The coupon is valid through Aug. 31.
- Teachers can save 20 percent now through Sept. 5 at Dollar General. This discount is only good on school supplies. You have to show your school ID to receive the savings. Find the coupon here.
- Through Sept. 1, receive 15 percent off at The Children’s Place. Find a link to print out the coupon here. To get the discount when you shop online, use the coupon code Z7ARZ4CR8A at checkout. Join their Birthday Club online and receive more coupons on your birthday. There is a store at 5945 Deerfield Blvd., Mason.
- Now through Sunday, Aug. 22, save 30 percent at Gymboree. Get the coupon on the home page here. You can also get a coupon code to get the savings online. The coupon is good on everything, and doesn’t say it can’t be used at the outlet store. There is a Gymboree Outlet at the Cincinnati Premium Outlets mall in Monroe as well as stores in Cincinnati and Dayton.
- Get 50 percent off or more online at the Aeropostale Clearance Sale. There is also free shipping on select orders. Save at www.aeropostale.com.
