IKEA As-Is Big Box Sale nets savings up to 65 percent

There are some extra-great deals to be had at IKEA now through Sunday!

IKEA West Chester’s as-is department is having a box sale Friday, Oct. 23 - Sunday, Oct. 25. The store says it is making more space for more products so it is marking boxed items for discounts up to 65 percent off. Normally, as-is can be found on sale for up to 50 percent off normal pricing, so this is a pretty good deal! Makes me wish I had driven my husband’s truck to work today instead of my little sedan.

Items in the as-is include scratch & dent, floor models and discontinued items. The post says this is a box sale, so I am not sure if it includes the smaller items.

Find the as-is section by the exit door near the registers. You can enter through the exit doors, actually, to get straight to the deals.

Officials recall robes after fires, deaths

You may want to reconsider cooking a meal on the stove while wearing your robe after reading this story.

Pennsylvania retail company Blair LLC is recalling 138,000 chenille robes after reports of three robes catching on fire. One report stated the person wearing the robe received second degree burns.

The company first recalled the robes in April 2009 after it had received reports of nine deaths allegedly due to the burn hazard for the chenille robes, according to a release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Most victims were said to have been cooking in the robes, the release said.

The recall has been expanded to include all women’s chenille apparel manufactured by A-One Textile & Towel, which is based in Pakistan. The names of the products are: Full Length Women’s Chenille Robes, Women’s Chenille Jacket, Women’s Chenille Lounge Jacket and Women’s Chenille Top.

Find out how to get free chicken at KFC

I hope this isn’t an offer that is reneged again!

According to a story by the Associated Press, Kentucky Fried Chicken is attempting once more to tempt shoppers with is un-grilled side of things with free chicken.

On Monday, Oct. 26, KFC will once again offer consumers a free piece of its grilled chicken at more than 5,000 locations. The freebie is limited to one per customer, and this time the chicken chain promises there will be no rainchecks.

In May, KFC suffered an embarrassing snafu after restaurants stopped accepting a printable coupon for a free meal at KFC made available on Oprah Winfrey’s Web site when officials said stores were overwhelmed with the demand and in some cases ran out of food.

In April, the company offered a singular piece of chicken, similar to this deal, and has no issues. About 4 million pieces were doled out to customers across the country.

There is no coupon required for this freebie. Just head over to your area KFC Monday and get your free piece of chicken!
