Happy Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day!
Today is the 38th annual celebration of the planet we call home, and a day to step back and think about things we can do to preserve and restore our natural resources…
So that’s the official line on Earth Day, but I want to know: what do YOU think about Earth Day?
Is it a time to reflect on accomplishments?
A time to call for more action?
Or something in-between?
Send a post, let us know, then go outside and do something good for the planet.

New cafe built on green ideals
There’s a new restaurant opening today in Cincinnati’s Northside neighborhood that hopes to put into practice many ideas about sustainable eating and green living.
While Cinci is a bit far south of this blog’s usual coverage area, The Peapod Cafe’s mission fits right in with many of the things we’ve discussed here about the environmental aspects of the food we eat.
Plus, you never know when you might be in the Queen City and hungry for a guilt-free bite.
One thing that piqued my interest about this restaurant is its menu, or rather the description of what type of things will appear on the menu. I like the idea of a restaurant that fits its menu to what’s in season, rather than the other way around. It’s a more sustainable way to eat, and it often means the ingredients are fresher.
I’ll be spending more time in the city this fall, and I’ll report back on my impression of the cafe once I have a chance to eat there. In the meantime, go to its website and share your thoughts on its philosophy. Better yet, if you’re close to Northside, drop in for a bite and let everyone here know what you think of the place.
