Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Today is the 38th annual celebration of the planet we call home, and a day to step back and think about things we can do to preserve and restore our natural resources…

So that’s the official line on Earth Day, but I want to know: what do YOU think about Earth Day?

Is it a time to reflect on accomplishments?

A time to call for more action?

Or something in-between?

Send a post, let us know, then go outside and do something good for the planet.

Call me a slacker…please

I was really bad about the bike this week. I didn’t commute to the office once, nor did I run any errands on two wheels rather than four.

In my defense, I did have to spend two days working from Hamilton, necessitating a busy road commute, and I was dog tired Monday and Tuesday from getting my tail handed to me in a Sunday mountain bike race in Kentucky.

But enough with the excuses. Four-dollar-a-gallon gas is upon us, so I’m going to undertake an experiment thought up with a coworker a few weeks ago.

Starting Monday, I’m going to track how many miles I’m commuting by bike each week. I’ll take that, do a little math, and figure out how much - or little - I save from June 23 to July 23. It’s just a little more motivation to be more sustainable at work.

On the flip side, it means I’ll have all of you to be accountable to if I continue slacking.

Speaking of all things bicycular (yes, I made that one up), did anyone stop by the RAAM time station last week? I’m still blown away by the endurance of the men and women who completed this transcontinental race. What an adventure!

I have been a silent co-worker/reader until now … but I must compliment your creation of the word “bicycular.” I heart it! (I know you love my use of “heart.”)
