Happy Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day!
Today is the 38th annual celebration of the planet we call home, and a day to step back and think about things we can do to preserve and restore our natural resources…
So that’s the official line on Earth Day, but I want to know: what do YOU think about Earth Day?
Is it a time to reflect on accomplishments?
A time to call for more action?
Or something in-between?
Send a post, let us know, then go outside and do something good for the planet.

The oil price trickle-down
For those of you not familiar with the structure behind the writer behind this blog, the paper I write for is one of several between Cincinnati and Dayton that are owned by Cox Ohio Publishing, the same company that owns the Dayton Daily News (as you probably figured out already, if you’re reading this on daytondailynews.com).
As with any large company, we occasionally get company-wide announcements, and a recent one caused much rejoicing in the kingdom.
The company instituted a slight increase in our mileage rate, in response to increased transportation costs. For those of us who drive a fair bit to interviews, it was very much appreciated, and it made me curious:
Has your employer done anything to help employees deal with rising gas prices? If you’re an employer, have you instituted any such policies? Share your thoughts - maybe they’ll give another reader a good idea to put to use.

OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel. OPEC nations buy U.S. grain at $7.00 a bushel. Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel. Can’t buy it? Tough! Eat your oil! Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled filet of camel a*s!!!By Lee Wong, U.S. Army (Retired)

Our politicians in Washington are all talks no action. We have a disfunctional Congress in dealing with high oil prices. Our troops are still dying in Iraq /Afghanistan…we spent billions already…where are we going on this?
