How much do Lakota employees cost?
People have asked me for some numbers relating to Lakota’s budget, of which 80 percent goes toward personnel. Here are some of the numbers I gathered.
The cost of education: $100 million: salaries for Lakota’s 1,700 employees $33 million: benefits $60,000: average teacher salary $10,000: average district share of employee health insurance $79,000: average cost of a teacher including retirement/benefits
I will be writing a story on retirement plans for next week per requests from several readers. What other numbers would you like to see. How about story ideas? Leading up to the Lakota levy and contract negotiations, I will aim to write a finance-related story each week.

Since the average teacher’s salary of $ 60,000 on an annualized basis would be approx. $ 80k, I would be very interested in knowing how much a teacher pays for their medical and dental insurance. I would also like to know how much they contribute to their retirement fund vs. what the district contributes.

I would like to know what salary increases the teachers recieved over the past three years of the current contract; by year. Also, what deductable does teachers pay for a doctor visit, dentist and eye care visit. At what level does support staff start to get benefits?

I would like a comparison of these benchmarks with nearby districts having excellent schools: fairfield, mason, sycamore. And maybe some that are not as good: Hamilton, Princeton

How many years of service are required for the average $60,000 salary? Is that strictly teaching or added on top of teaching? (coach, etc) What is the average salary of someone living in West Chester with a Masters degree and same years of service in their field?
