Kindergarten development
Thanks for all the comments. I have heard many parents (including my mother) express thoughts that kids need time to be kids.
That said, many educators are praising this idea. They say it will help students get a better head start on state standards.
Some parents are saying they don’t want their child to have to start the rigor of school that young. Here is an article on why all-day kindergarten may not be for everyone.
Here is an article that supports all-day kindergarten. It points out how many children are in day care or not getting that nurturing they need as young children. Here is another in support of all-day.

For children from two-parent families, who read to their children, take them to museums, etc, an all day kindergarten will have little or no positive effect. It will help children with slugo parents. My suggestion: have children of slugo parents go to all day kindergarten.
