Breast cancer awareness

Last week I attended the Volley for the Cure with East and West. It was a great event where the teams raised money for breast cancer awareness. More importantly, though, the girls said they had speakers come in to educate them about breast cancer and early detection.

Odds are that someone you know has battled this cancer or will battle it. My great aunt died from two bouts with it. My mother has surgery scheduled for November 3 to remove her cancer. Special Services Director Vicki Curtis also is battling this cancer and is on sick leave. A teacher at Endeavor Elementary School involved her entire class in the fight last year as she underwent chemo, and I am sure there are so many more stories like that within the district.

I thought for this blog, we could take the time to let those people know we are thinking about them and praying for them. Take time today to send a note of encouragement to someone you know that has breast cancer or any cancer for that matter.
