Graduation haul to Oxford | Lakota Schools News and Issues

Is your high school student signed up for busing?

Lakota just released this announcement:

In order to schedule transportation for Lakota students in grades 10, 11 and 12, a form must be completed by August 26 to have bus transportation on the first day of school. One form should be filled out per student.

The form is available on Lakota’s website (www.lakotaonline.com http://www.lakotaonline.com/ ). Select “Transportation” and then “High School Transportation”. The form is also available at each of the high school campuses.

If you have any questions, please call the transportation office at 755-5821.

Graduation haul to Oxford

Lee Wong, West Chester Twp. official brought this topic to my attention. He said he wants to see the district look for local venues for graduation, such as outdoor ceremonies in the stadiums. What do you think? Is there a local venue close enough and large enough? Would you rather have it here and limit tickets, or drive to Miami University?

Here is Wong’s argument: “I served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. I recall the most memorable graduations were those held in the open field with full pomp and circumstance. I can count in one hand of those ceremonies indoor due to severe inclement weather conditions. Besides, it is in conceivable for the Army to hold its graduation ceremony say, the Navy, Air Force or the Marines! There is something about it. I just don’t feel right when a Lakota graduation is held in Miami University (indoor stadium)….it’s just not the same. Gee, how did the older generations survive with all those outdoor ceremonies without A/C and a roof over their heads?”
