Franklin athletic department to honor Doug Long

The following is a release:

On Friday, January 27th, the Franklin High School Athletic Department will be honoring former Varsity Baseball Coach Doug Long for being inducted into the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

The night will include a 5:00 pm reception in the high school cafeteria, where several distinguished alumni will speak on Coach Long’s behalf, additionally there will be a recognition ceremony during halftime of the Varsity Boys Basketball game that evening vs Valley View. The public and all former players are invited to attend the reception.

Coach Long’s official induction ceremony will take place Jan. 20th in Columbus.

Coach Doug Long was the Franklin Varsity Baseball Coach for 28 years. A partial list of his accomplishments are listed below:

• 504 Career Victories

• 9 Mid-Miami League Titles

• 9 Warren County Titles

• 3 District Championships

• 1 Regional Runner-Up Finish

• 8 Time Mid-Miami League Coach of the Year

• 1986 & 1988 Miami Valley Coach of the Year

• 50 of his former players went on to play collegiately and 3 signed professionally.

• 1994 Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame

• 2004 Franklin High School Hall Of Fame

• 2012 Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame

I love Coach Long… he was such an awesome teacher/coach! I can’t think of anyone better to receive this honor!
