Trotwood 13, Wapak 0: end of 1st half

PIQUA - Isreal Green rumbled 26 yards and Ashton Jackson ran for another short TD run as Trotwood-Madison led Wapakoneta 13-0 at halftime of their D-II, Region 8 high school football semifinal on Friday night at Alexander Stadium.

Green’s scoring dash came with 5:12 left in the second quarter. Jackson scored on a 2-yard run with 7:10 left in the first quarter and Eric Cospy’s extra-point kick gave Trotwood a 7-0 lead.

The touchdown was set up by Green’s 39-yard dash inside the 20.

Wapak never threatened to score and struggled to run or throw against the Rams. Several untimely penalties stopped Trotwood drives. The Rams also ended the half on Wapak’s 10 yard line.

Trotwood QB Michael Simpson was unusually busy the first half, completing 8 of 19 passes for 137 yards. Bam Bradley led the Rams with four catches for 92 yards.

Green had 101 yards rushing on just eight carries.

Trotwood-Madison is (11-0) and Wapakoneta (10-1). The winner will play the Kings (11-0) vs. Cin. Turpin (8-3) winner in next week’s regional final at a site to be determined.
