Beavers get physical with Patriots; improve to 2-0
Gone is the funky hyper version of the wing-T, misdirection offense.
In is a smash-mouth brand of off-tackle, with a heavy dose of senior running back Zach Smith.
The result is as good as hoped for at Beavercreek, which shot to 2-0 following Friday’s convincing 23-12 win at Carroll.
“We just needed to get more physical,” beamed coach Scott Clotfelter. “This is a physical team right now.”
The Beavers hardly resemble last year’s 1-9 team. That was evident from their physical play, especially on defense.
The Beavers made a believer of Patriots coach Bob Levy.
“I felt going in that they were as good as they were two years ago,” said Levy, a longtime Carroll assistant who took over when Steve Bartlett resigned last spring after 16 seasons as Carroll’s head coach.
“Athletically, they’re a lot better than last year. The only thing I can hope for at this point is that return the favor next year just like we did last year.”
Clodfelter is in his eighth season as the Beavers’ head coach. The program was consistently competitive until it unraveled last season. Now, hopes are high again.
“That was a really great win for us,” Clodfelter said. “I thought our kids played really hard and smart.
“I’m thrilled for the seniors. It was important for us to win early and we did. I can’t be more proud of our team. The guys did a wonderful job and it doesn’t get any easier. Winning this game in this environment doesn’t get any better.”

I hope I am wrong but it is going to be a long year for the Patriots. Bob Levy Mr. No personality was really a poor hire. This was Joe Sens parting shot to an ahtleityc program he was largely responsible for the genral decline of. I hope the new regime doesn’t give Levy much of a leash so we can get back to being competitve again. Steve Bartlett did a tremendous job. Unfortunatly Bob Levy is not even close to being of the caliber of coach that Bartlett was. I feel really sorry for the Patriot faithful. Levy is pathetic.

null number one, Why so negative? Levy is going to do a great job give him time to work his magic. They are only down two games. The next game will begin the winning streak that will put them into the playoffs once again. Keep the faith. Our man Levy will get the job done.

First, leave it to a Beavercreek grad in Pendleton to talk up the Beavers. Just as bad as Kyle Nagel setting up a satellite office at Centerville High School. But anyhow, same old Beavercreek…..they will win 2 or 3 of their non-league games then won’t win a game in the league.

And YOUR qualifications for evaluating a 2-game head coach are exactly what again? Ah yes, a working keyboard and dial-up internet access. He’ll be fine.

Why shouldn’t Marc talk about his Alma Mater? If you can’t talk about your team, who canyou talk about? Wasn’t much to be said last year. Maybe Creek won’t win another game but for these young men it’s a time to celebrate, let’s not beat them down.

I agree with Joe. The only beatable teams left are Xenia and Fairmont. Maybe we could get Northmont if we’re lucky. I hate when people get excited when we’re 2-0 or even 5-0 before we actually play teams on our level. Carroll & F airfield are terrible.

Nice article by Marc Pendleton. No one claimed Creek is going to win their league. Give them credit for the 2-0 start.
