McGowan, Ringer, Bradley, Foster, Decker all nominated for U.S. Army All-American Bowl
Five area high school football standouts have been nominated for the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. All will be seniors this fall.
Earning nods were Benny McGowan (OL, Centerville), Kaleb Ringer (LB, Northmont), Bam Bradley (DB, Trotwood-Madison), Marcus Foster (DB, Troy) and Taylor Decker (OL, Vandalia Butler).
They are among eight nominees for the all-star football game from Southwest Ohio. Also nominated were Cincinnati Taft players Dwayne Stanford (WR) and Adolphus Washington (DL) and Joe Bolden of Colerain (LB).
They are among 440 nominees throughout the country. Ultimately, 90 players will be chosen to play for the East or West teams.
McGowan (Michigan State), Ringer (Michigan), Foster (Cincinnati) and Decker (Notre Dame) have already verbally committed.
The game will be played on Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Alamodome in San Antonio and will be shown live on NBC.

TweetTroy’s Julia Wood headed to West Virginia Tech to play basketball
TROY - Senior basketball standout Julia Wood of Troy High School has signed to play at West Virginia Tech at Montgomery, W.Va.
The 5-8 guard was a two-time All-GWOC North Division selection and was special mention All-Area D-I last season.
Wood averaged 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals as a senior. Troy was 15-7 overall and 8-2 in the GWOC North, good for a share of the divisoin title with Trotwood-Madison.
Also headed to West Virginia Tech to play basketball is Nia Nolan of T-M. Tech is an NAIA D-II program that competes in the Mid-South Conference.

TweetTipp’s Clack, Daniel to Ohio Northern; Hunter headed to Heidelberg
TIPP CITY - A trio of Tippecanoe High School seniors will continue their football careers at the next level.
Casey Clack and Cameron Daniel are headed to Ohio Northern University, and Austin Hunter is bound for Heidelberg.
Clack is a 5-10, 170-pound RB/DB. He was a special mention All-CBC choice last season after rushing for 423 yards on 63 carries. He also had 11 receptions for 165 yards. He was especially effective returning kickoffs: 6 for a 44-yard average.
Defensively, Clack had 53 solo stops, 44 assists and two INTs.
Daniel, a 6-1, 180 WR/DE, also was special mention All-CBC. He had five receptions (16.8 average). Defensively, he had 51 solo stops and 41 assists, and also caused four fumbles.
Hunter was a 5-10, 260-pound two-way lineman and first-team All-CBC selection. Defensively, he had 11 tackles, 15 assists and caused two fumbles.
Tipp was 9-2 overall and a runner-up 4-1 in the CBC Kenton Division last fall.
Northern is a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference and was 10-2 last season, knocking Wittenberg out of the NCAA D-III playoffs in the first round, 37-14.
Heidelberg also is an OAC member and was 5-5 last season.
