Ringer makes it official, verbally commits to Michigan

ENGLEWOOD - If the University of Michigan is to recover anytime soon and take its former place among college football’s heavyweight programs, count Kaleb Ringer in.

The Northmont High School junior linebacker verbally committed to play for the Wolverines on Friday night. He announced his decision at TJ Chumps in front of about 150 family members, friends and teammates.

“I think I’m coming in at the right time,” said Ringer, new coach Brady Hoke’s first commit from the Dayton area.

“I felt with the new coach and the transition - plus, he’s from Dayton. With the seniors leaving and the amount of players they’re getting, I feel like I’m coming in at the right time to be a part of that class that rebuilds Michigan and brings back Michigan football.”

Ringer had multiple offers and chose Michigan over Cincinnati, West Virginia and Illinois. National signing day for football is Feb. 12, 2012.
