Baseball teams to play at Fifth Third Field

DAYTON - Area baseball teams will play 21 games - featuring 36 teams - at Fifth Third Field this season. This is the sixth season that high school teams will be playing on the Dragons’ home turf.

Admission to all games is free and concessions stands will be open (no beer).

Monday’s opener between Troy and Greenville was rained out and rescheduled as the first game of a doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12.

The schedule (home team listed second):

Tue., April 12: Troy vs. Greenville, 4:30 p.m.; Urbana vs. Ben Logan, 7:30 p.m.

Wed., April 13: Franklin-Monroe vs. Arcanum, 4:30 p.m.; Dixie vs. Preble Shawnee, 7:30 p.m.

Thu., April 14: Bellbrook vs. Oakwood, 4:30 p.m.; Dayton Christian vs. Troy Christian, 7:30 p.m.

Sat., April 16: Riverside vs. Fairlawn, 1 p.m.; Lehman Catholic vs. Russia, 4 p.m.; Bradford vs. Minster, 7 p.m.

Fri.,, April 22: Tippecanoe vs. Northwestern, 4:30 p.m.; Xenia vs. Northmont, 7:30 p.m.

Sat., April 23: Northwestern vs. Indian Lake, 1 p.m.; Richmond (Ind.) vs. Wayne, 4 p.m.; Richmond (Ind.) vs. Wayne, 7 p.m.

Sun., May 1: New Knoxville vs. Lincolnview, 1 p.m.; Greenon vs. Lehman Catholic, 4 p.m.; Covington vs. St. Henry, 7 p.m.

Mon., May 2: Fenwick vs. Chaminade Julienne, 4:30 p.m.; Anna vs. Brookville, 7:30 p.m.

Sat., May 7: Vandalia Butler vs. Lebanon, 7:30 p.m.

Monday’s ppd. sports events

High school schedule changes for Monday, April 11, as submitted to the DDN:

COLDWATER: Softball at New Bremen has been rescheduled to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

COVINGTON: All home events are postponed.

FAIRBORN: Varsity baseball and softball with visiting Springboro have been rescheduled for Wednesday also at Fairborn (5 p.m.). Boys tennis with Sidney has been rescheduled for Monday, May 9 at Fairborn.

FRANKLIN: Varsity softball vs. Eaton has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 5 at Franklin. Varsity baseball vs. Eaton has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 5 at Franklin. Varsity boys tennis vs. Northridge has been canceled. The varsity and reserve softball games with Oakwood on March 30 have been rescheduled for Thursday, April 21 at 5 p.m. The varsity game will be at Oakwood and the reserve game at Franklin.

WL-SALEM: All baseball and softball games have been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 27.
