Oh, how the high school football ranked have fallen

Heading into the regional final weekend, 23 of the 60 teams that finished the regular season ranked in the AP poll have survived.

No division has more than five of its ranked teams still playing, and three No 1-ranked teams are left: Alliance Marlington (Division III), Youngstown Ursuline (D-V) and Delphos St. John’s (D-VI).

The other three top-ranked schools lost in last weekend’s regional semifinals: Cleveland Glenville (D-I) lost to No. 3 Lakewood St. Edward, Columbus Marion-Franklin (D-II) lost to unranked Sunbury Big Walnut and Clinton-Massie (D-IV) lost to No. 6 Kenton.

Trotwood-Madison (D-II vs. No. 10 Kings) and No. 8 Alter (D-IV vs. No. 6 Kenton). Alter and No. 4 Eaton (D-III) are the area’s remaining ranked teams.

Here are games involving ranked teams throughout the state:

D-I, Region 1: No. 3 Lakewood St. Edward vs. No. 7 Solon

D-I, Region 3: No. 4 Hilliard Davidson vs. No. 6 Pickerington Central

D-II, Region 5: No. 6 Mentor Lake Catholic vs. Ashland

D-II, Region 6: Olmsted Falls vs. No. 4 Maple Heights

D-II, Region 8: No. 10 Kings vs. Trotwood-Madison

D-III, Region 10: No. 6 Tiffin Columbian vs. No. 3 Columbus Bishop Watterson

D-III, Region 11: Dover vs. No. 1 Alliance Marlington

D-III, Region 12: McNicholas vs. No. 4 Eaton

D-IV, Region 13: Chagrin Falls vs. No. 2 Akron Manchester

D-IV, Region 14: Orrville vs. No. 3 Genoa Area

D-IV, Region 16: No. 8 Alter vs. No. 6 Kenton

D-V, Region 17: No. 2 Kirtland vs. No. 1 Youngstown Ursuline

D-V, Region 19: No. 3 Fredericktown vs. Oak Hill

D-VI, Region 21: No. 2 Mogadore vs. McDonald

D-VI, Region 22: No. 4 McComb vs. No. 1 Delphos St. John’s

I notice you mentioned all the area high schools still in the playoffs but you didn’t mention our team from Huber Heights, Ohio. We are proud of our young men no matter what happens this weekend.
