Football playoff pairings to be released Sunday

The DDN will receive the football playoff pairings Sunday morning from the OHSAA. They will immediately be posted on the DDN sports web site at DaytonDailyNews.com/sports.

Coach have until 2 p.m. Sunday to contact the OHSAA about possible errors. Sometimes an error can be just a record, but other times major point differences are found.

The final and official pairings should be released by the state organization at about 3 p.m. Sunday. These would reflect any changes from the original release Sunday morning.

The playoffs begin Friday, Nov. 5 and conclude with state championships for six divisions on Dec. 3-4 at Massillon and Canton. Divisions II, IV and VI will play at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays. Divisions I, III and V will play at 7 p.m. on Saturdays.

There will be eight teams in each region and four regions per division. The four higher seeds in each region will host first-round games. From then on games will be held at neutral sites.

I’ll believe that posted immediately crap when it happens. Some of your techies must be very anti-sports because or just inept because high schools sports stories are often posted hours or days after they happen.

Have to agree with coach. DDN website is extremely slow on high school stories. It’s 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Enquirer website already has seven or eight football stories on their site and story about which teams are in and out of playoffs. DDN has two-day old stories. I see DDN writers at games hustling to get stories in. So there’s a breakdown somewhere in getting stories on life. You want website traffic guys, you better get faster.
