Alter has tickets; Centerville sold out
If you’re planning on attending the Alter/Centerville football game and haven’t yet purchased a ticket, about 200 will be available this morning at Alter. None are available at Centerville and no tickets will be sold at the game.
A capacity crowd of about 10,000 is expected inside the stadium. Vast fields surround the stadium, which also could accommodate fans for free.
Alter received 3,500 tickets for the game, and likely will sell out.
“We don’t even sell that many for the state finals,” said Alter athletic director Chris Hart. Spectators who don’t find a stadium seat will be directed to stand around either end zone.
Centerville AD/football coach Ron Ullery said that parking spaces at the high school won’t be open until students clear out from the school day at about 3:15 p.m.
Centerville has never before sold out of tickets before a game.
“(Fans) are probably lining up now (to get in),” said Ullery on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Alter will win. I decree it. If not, Centerville will no longer be “Warm and Cheerfull”. It is done.

Many, if not most Knights grew up as Wee- Elks including Mangold who grew up and lives in Centerville. They draw from Miamisburg, Bellbrook, Oakwood, Kettering,West Carrolton, Springboro, etc…..They should be good enough to win state titles.Wish they would have played us all through the 70’s and up to the 90’s.

Well, let me just say that I would love to see Centerville win. However, if Alter wins,it will prove they have no business playing in Division IV

Once again a DDN writer failed to check his facts. Centerville’s first football game in the new stadium, back in 80 or 81 sold out a week before the kickoff. I think they played Moeller. In fact, a Centerville player took the opening kickoff and slipped on the 1-yard-line. Also, there is only one “vast” field around the stadium, and that belongs to a farmer, it’s private property and there is no easy way in or out. The only other space is the football practice field. Both are far away and there isn’t a great view.

The first game was against Cincinnati Princeton in 1980 and the Elks lost 21-11. Yes it was sold out and I had to sit on the visitors side because it was so crowded and I got one of the last tickets.

Princeton was 1979. Moeller was 1980. elksfootball.com has all the history back to 1973.

Big Game, Divisions are decided by state based on enrollment. Your just trying to rationalize so that if the unlikely happens and Centerville loses you have solace in fact you think Alter should be in a higher division. CX Baruxs You make fine point Alter would have many more victories than the current (3-1 edge)in series if they played in 70’s-90’s
