Trotwood’s Cokes signs with NC Asheville

Trotwood-Madison senior center Blake Cokes has signed to play basketball at the University of North Carolina Asheville.

Her family reports that the 6-foot-1 forward received a full athletic scholarship to play for the Bulldogs and will major in pre-med.

She averaged 6.3 points and 5.2 rebounds for the Rams (15-6), who won the GWOC North Division title (7-1).

Dayton Public Schools coaching openings

The following is a release by Dayton Public Schools for coaching openings:

The Dayton City School District is recruiting for the following athletic coach positions:

Belmont High School: Head Boys Soccer, Head Girls Tennis.

Dunbar High School: Head Boys Soccer, Head Volleyball, Cheerleading Advisor.

Meadowdale High School: Head Boys Soccer, Head Girls Tennis.

Stivers High School: Head Volleyball, Assistant Volleyball, Head Cross Country.

Thurgood Marshall High school: Head Boys Soccer, Head Volleyball, Assistant Volleyball, Head Cross Country, Assistant Football (3) positions, and Head Golf.

These are Dayton Education Association (DEA) Supplemental Contracts as defined in the master agreement. These positions are accountable to the building Principal and the district Director of Athletics.

The coach is expected to serve as the leader of the program assisting each participating student achieves a high level of skill, an appreciation of the value of discipline and respect for others, and in increased level of self-esteem and a high level of academic achievement. The successful coach will motivate students to succeed inside and outside of the classroom, as well as preparing students for high school success.

COMPENSATION: PER SALARY SCHEDULED LISTED IN DEA MASTER AGREEMENT

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ohio Teaching License is preferred. Successful participation in the same sport for which you are applying. Evidence of successful past coaching experience in the field of middle school or high school coaching is preferred.

Must possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Supervisory permit. Must possess proof of current C.P.R. certification. Must possess the Fundamentals of Coaching Course certificate

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES AND OTHER EXPECTATIONS OF POSITION

Demonstrate the ability to motivate and inspire others and serve as a positive role model. Demonstrate knowledge of skills associated with this activity. Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Communicate effectively with team members, parents, and district Director of Athletics.

Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Attend all required/mandatory meetings scheduled by the district Director of Athletics Comply with the district’s fundraising procedures. Maintain an inventory of equipment and uniforms.
