Beavercreek wins gymnastics title
The Beavercreek gymnastics team won the Dayton City Championship on Saturday, Feb. 20, at Miamisburg High School. The Beavers scored a season-high 132.075 points to top runner-up Northmont’s 131.875 and third-place Centerville’s 129.925.
“Bringing home this championship trophy to Beavercreek is a testament to the hard work my athletes have put in all season. This also provides the team great momentum as we prepare to compete next weekend at the district meet,” Beavercreek coach Rick Reedy said.

It is a shame that after all the hard work and injuries suffered to perfect their gymnastic abilities that the local newspaper cannot give more recognition to these wonderful young women on this accomplishment of winning a city gymnastic title which Beavercreek High School had not done since 1991 (hope I have the year correct). I also find it appauling the the DDN does not recognize, with any regularity the hard work of any of the local gymnasts. Each of these young individuals have to work daily all year long from a very young age to accomplish their goals. They suffer many injuries during these years but their dedication continues. DDN easily recognizes other sports regularly that require alot let dedication and/or hard work. I think it is about time that the DDN begins to recognize all of the areas athletes and their accomplishments equally and without prejudice. Give these outstanding young men and women the recognition they each deserve.
