Area’s top recruit wavering on Michigan
Terry Talbott, the Wayne High School defensive lineman rated as the top area senior football recruit, is rethinking his commitment to Michigan and could instead sign with North Carolina on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Talbott had committed to Michigan in August, before his senior season, along with brother Terrence, a Wayne senior defensive back. The commitment was firm until just the past few weeks, when Terry took a visit to North Carolina and coach Butch Davis, said Wayne coach Jay Minton.
“His head is kind of spinning right now,” Minton said.
Minton said Talbott will likely sign a letter of intent on Wednesday, the first day allowed for senior football recruits. He’s just not sure which school will be on the letter.
Talbott is ranked the No. 16 recruit in Ohio by Rivals.com, tops in the area.
Other area players in the Rivals Ohio rankings are: Terrence Talbott at No. 47, Alter safety Cody Byers (Wisconsin) at No. 50, Northmont defensive back Quintin Cooper (Ball State) at No. 56, Wayne linebacker Josh Harrison (Wisconsin) at No. 57, Coldwater quarterback Keith Wenning (Ball State) at No. 58, Eaton offensive lineman Clint Shepherd (Cincinnati) at No. 65 and Trotwood-Madison defensive back Jordan Paschal (Louisville) at No. 72.
