Wayne High School brothers pick Michigan

Wayne High School senior football stars and brothers Terry and Terrence Talbott have decided to play their college football at the University of Michigan.

Born nine months and a day apart, the Talbotts have orally committed to the Wolverines as a package deal. Wayne head coach Jay Minton confirmed the Talbotts’ decision on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Terry, a 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive tackle, and Terrence, a 5-10, 170-pound cornerback, lead Wayne against Princeton in the season opener for both teams on Friday, Aug. 28, at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium at 8:15 p.m.

Terry is an explosive, emotional defender, absorbing double-team blocks, penetrating the backfield and disrupting the offense. Meanwhile, Terrence patrols the perimeter as a complete corner. He’s an outstanding tackler, makes quick breaks on the ball and covers well.

“Before all the recruiting really got going,” Minton said, “I sat them both down with their mom and said, ‘It’s going to be an absolute blessing if both of you guys get to go to school together. You’ve got to understand it would be very, very fortunate for a team to have a need at corner and D-line, and recruit both of you.’ “

Dozens of offers poured in for the Talbotts, who were determined to stick together.

“We’re very close,” Terrence said. “I don’t know how things are without (Terry). We’re together all the time. Every day, I see this dude — my big brother.”

Added Terry, “We’ve been together so long. It would be hard to separate. I know it will happen sometime in the future, but no matter what we go through, we’re always going to be close.”

Hope the get used to losing, Michigan may sound good in name recognition, but a very poor choice overall. I would take a winning program over a popular choice anyday. Don’t mean to rain on your parade fellows but think you could have done better.

Leave it to the idiots who browse this site to turn achievement into a mind numbing UM vs OSU slobber-fest. A fine education, a lifetime of memories and relationships that last forever await these gentlemen. A fine choice indeed.

I hate Michigan as much as any OSU alum does. However, these kids could have done much worse. True, they will lose a lot more football games up North than they would have in Columbus. But they will get a great education and have a blast living and learning together. Besides, Ohio State didn’t even offer them a scholarship.

J: So, the choice of where local kids go to school should be made solely to fulfill your desire that OSU have the best team possible. What the kids want is less important than what you want? They can’t choose to play more and lose rather than sit on the bench and win? They can’t choose to go a little further from home for their college experience? They can’t choose based on being with family/friends? They can’t choose based on their perception of the particular education program they want? The ONLY relevant factor is YOUR rooting interest in OSU football, and any other factor that takes them away from OSU makes them traitors? What kind of person are you?

Congrats guys on the schollies and good luck except in late Nov. Any true fan of tOSU like myself wouldnt say one bad thing about them. tOSU didnt even offer either of them. They dont fit the tOSU defense. You guys already know that though dont you. Nevermind I am sure you dont. You are the type of tOSU fans that embarrass us by getting on a message board and ripping kids for getting a D1 scholly to a major Big10 program instead of congradulation them.

Good choice Talbott Brothers. Congratulations on joining the Big Ten! And to those osu fans who posted negative comments about these high school students… your lack of class and ignorance shows once again. Get your own life and stop living through these young men. Most of you probably never went to college anyway.

Jon and J you are morons! U of M is an excellent school. These boys will do very well there. It’s an awesome campus with lots of great academic programs and a good football program. Why turn this into a OSU v’s UM matter? Congrats to the Talbott brothers - make us Wayne alums proud!! GO WARRIORS!!!!

I can’t believe I’m reading grown people (I guess??) are actually telling these teens they made a bad choice by choosing UofM. With our current situation of teens killing each other and not thinking about going to college. These young men made a choice to better themselves..whocares where they get an education as long as they get one. Get a friggin life why don’t you!!!

Tressel is no dummy. He probably didn’t see the Talbotts fitting in to his vision for the team. Choosing Michigan (when the Bucks pass you by) does NOT make you a traitor. Answer me this - What Ohio football program (outside of OSU) is better than Michigan? And no, Toledo doesn’t count.

I live in So. Cal. but follow UofM and the link here from Rivals. Your readership is bright (some are idiots). These kids have an opportunity and all should be happy for them. UM recruits heavily in Ohio (more than MI this year), but OSU gets most of the top ones in Ohio based on Rivals ratings.

“JON” - how could they have done better. Michigan has won more football games than any other college, period.. Not to mention their admission standards are toughest in the big10. Says alot about these young men to maintain a high level of academics and a high level of game play to gt accepted at M.U. - BTW - Im an OSU fan myself.. Way to go Terrance and Terry…. GO WAYNE !!!!!

First you boys have done an exceptional job, you deserve every good thing that comes your way. Your mother and father has done a great job also. To all you retarded rejects that made this an OSU/UM thing you are very sad. Why would these guys want to go to a team that cannot get the job done, I mean losing to Florida in both football and basketball in the same academic year, WOW!!!!OHIO CHOKE UNIVERSITY!!!!!

The two boys are lucky to go to a fine Michigan football program that still holds a 15 game advantage over 105 yr. contests. This is why OSU hates Michigan so much because Michigan owns OSU overall. The OSU people have short memories about Cooper yrs. 11-2-1. Richie boy will bring the dominance back. The series is full of streaks. Fact is Michigan is a better school for an education and football tradition. Besides Osu & tressal will not be in a hurry for another warrior after the dud player of Evege that Minton sold tressal.

True, I am and always will be a OSU fan (By the way, I live in Oklahoma and have to deal with the Sooners all the time!!) But I will be rooting for you—no matter what. Great job, mom, regardless of what ANYONE else has to say. Love, Uncle Bump! P.S I know that someone is going to say even more negative things after this posts but I am not worried about it.

With all of this Ohio State and Michigan talk, the funny thing is when I went to OSU football camp back in sixth grade, I roomed with Terry and Tearence. So that would have been cool to see them go to OSU. 2 weekds later I ended up at Camp Kern and they were staying in my cabin. Ironic.

First of all I want to say congrats to Terry and Terrence. I have watched you both grow up in so many ways. To the person who made the comment about their mother learn all the facts before you say something. Those of us who know her and the boys know that there is a lot more to the situation then is told to the public. Secondly she has single handedly raised her boys and pushed them to be their best no matter what. She would do whatever it took to get the boys to achieve whatever goal they wanted. Hats off to a strong single mother. Boys U M is a great school and talking to your mom she is very proud of you and your decision. Keep a humble attitude, Put God first and be the best you can be. God Bless you and we are love you and are very proud of you.

It is by the grace of God that these boys were born with the talent to play football AND to overcome the parents they were dealt. GO BOYS!! Good luck. All true Warriors will be pulling for you.
