Ruef matched game MVP Dayeesha Hollins of Cincinnati Winton Woods with 17 points and Dowd added 10. Carroll’s Rob Berry was on the South coaching staff. That was the only game of four that area South players won.

In the girls Divisions III-IV game, four area players were named to the South team, and all produced in an 83-82 loss.

Kaci Finfrock (Milton-Union), tallied 10 points, Sarah Pearce (Fenwick) 7, Kate Mengos (Miami East) 4 and Samantha Van Atta (Waynesville) 3. Versailles coach Jacki Stonebraker also assisted with the South team.

Josh Schuler (Graham) and Matt Kavanaugh (Centerville) scored 7 and 6 points, respectively, in the South’s 118-104 loss in the boys Divisions I-II game. Matt Pond (Tippecanoe) was among the South coaches.

In the boys Divisions III-IV game, Ken Gaynor (Middletown Christian), Dan Hickman (Miami East) and Aaron Deister (Dayton Christian) all hit double-digits in a 116-98 loss. Gaynor scored a game-high 16 points, Hickman 13 and Deister 12.

In addition to the game action, the OHSBCA also included Derek Francis (Russia), Spencer Niekamp (St. Henry) and Joseph Stechschulte (Minster) as scholarship winners and longtime member Tom Rettig was inducted into its hall of fame.

Rettig coached many sports at several high schools throughout Ohio. Locally, he excelled as Tippecanoe’s girls coach, then at Greenville.
