Halftime: La Salle 17, Centerville 14

In a physical, low-scoring game, the Centerville Elks trailed Cincinnati La Salle, 17-14, at halftime in the Division I regional semifinal nightcap at Xavier University’s Cintas Center on Wednesday night.

Mike Griffin scored 10 of Centerville’s 14 points, while Matt Kavanaugh and Greg White had two points each.

All five La Salle starters scored with sophomore forward Ryan Fleming leading the Lancers with 5.

Centerville drew first blood on a Griffin layup off a Kavanaugh feed. La Salle scored the next 11 points for an 11-2 lead.

Griffin buried two 3-pointers to keep the Elks in the game.

Centerville outscored La Salle 9-2 the final 6:40 of the second quarter.
