Miamisburg, Ohio, High School junior wrestler Shawn Fayette is the epitome of a champion. He captured the Division I title in the 130-pound weight class at the 72nd OHSAA state wrestling tournament at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University on Saturday night, March 7, 2009, with a 9-4 victory over Lakota West’s Ty Davis.

SHAWN FAYETTE

Year: Junior

Weight class: 130 pounds

Age: 17

Personal: Captured 130-pound Division I state champ after finishing as state runner-up at 125 pounds in 2008 … Began wrestling at age 5 … Attended Centerville H.S. as a freshman before moving to Miamisburg … His father owns and operates Dayton-based Fayette Drywall.

He’s wrestled a ton of matches in the off-season while growing up, and has great experience and confidence. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF SHAWN FAYETTE

6:15 a.m. — Alarm clock rings (One bowl of Cheerios for breakfast with 2 percent milk. “That’s my sugar time.”)

7:00 a.m. — Arrive at school, sit with friends in the Commons

7:15 a.m. — Classes begin

Noon — Lunch (Chicken salad with egg, an orange and water.)

2:15 p.m. — Classes end

3:00 p.m. — Practice at wrestling room near downtown Miamisburg until 5:15 p.m.

5:30 p.m. — Arrive back at school for weightlifting until 6:30

6:45 p.m. — Arrive home, take shower and eat dinner (Baked potato with dash of butter, plain noodles or spaghetti, no sauce, glass of water.)

7:30 p.m. — Homework and study

8:45 p.m. — Arrive back at wrestling room for a light half-hour workout with teammate Tyler Regan

9:30 p.m. — Arrive home for relaxation

10:00 p.m. — Lights out
