Judge sets hearing (1 p.m. today) in case involving Centerville wrestler Dillon Kelley

JUDGE FRANCES E. McGEE

WILL HEAR ARGUMENTS

Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Frances E. McGee has set a 1 p.m. meeting today, Feb. 25, with Dillon Kelley’s lawyer and attorneys for Centerville High School in an attempt to settle their dispute.

Kelley, a 16-year-old sophomore wrestler at Centerville, is accused of stealing cookies from the high school cafeteria on Feb. 10.

The high school filed a motion on Monday, asking the court to overturn a temporary restraining order and bar Kelley from wrestling in the district meet at Fairfield High School on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Kelley is represented by Matthew D. DiCicco of Freund, Freeze & Arnold.

From P. McKenzie: “Regarding the ‘Cookie Monster,’ I would like to know … whatever happened to common sense? This makes me so angry. Why did the school (Centerville) not listen to the boy (Dillon Kelley) and then speak with the woman cashier taking the money. Maybe if the school had trays like they should, these mistakes would not happen. This is just one more thing that upsets residents when the schools come to us with more taxes. If you cannot solve a simple mistake like this, then don’t try and tell the world how great your schools are.”
