Trotwood’s Freeman OK after collapse

TROTWOOD — Trotwood-Madison senior lineman Chris Freeman has been cleared to play football with his team in Texas on Saturday night, Aug. 30, after a medical scare this week.

Freeman, 6-foot-9 and 340-pound left tackle, collapsed at practice on Tuesday. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, had his football helmet and pads cut away and held overnight for several tests.

His father, Michael, said doctors found out Freeman has asthma and that was causing the amount of oxygen to be at a low level. That, in turn, caused pressure on one side of his heart. But with some temporary breathing treatments and inhalers, Freeman should be fine.

Late Wednesday afternoon, Freeman was released. The Rams (0-1) fly to Dallas on Friday and face Arlington (Texas) Bowie at 9 p.m. Saturday in Texas Stadium.

Let’s hope that is all it was.

They will still lose with or without Freeman. If the parents let him play then they need their heads examined. If football is more important then his health then it might be another Lemar situation.

Trotwood Sucks if the Doctor said he is cleared he can play, if he was not cleared and he is still playing then you could question his parents. Your post is pretty ignorant considering this article is about young kid who had a medical emergency and you start a post about hating his school and referring to another student that died from that school.

Well t800 tell me what the other kids died from. If I had a child and that happened I would have my child get a total physical. My child’s health would be first. His parents are the ignorant ones.

First, let me preface by saying that it is easy to speak about things you don’t know about - people do it all the time, it’s the world we live in - but you really need to get your facts straight before you drag parents, medical specialists, coaches and training staff through the mud. We all need to understand foremost that this is not a matter of winning or losing, it is a matter of whether an athlete is fit to be on the football field. Since his “collapse” Chris has gone through “extensive examinations” to determine his fitness to be on the football field. In fact, over the last few days, he has gone through at least 50-60 tests. Is that enough? Furthermore, don’t you think with the recent incidents in Trotwood and abroad (the NJ players), that parents, medical specialists, coaches and training staff are aware of what is going on here? Just in case you do not think so – I am here to tell you that they are aware. Bottom line: If the doctors clear Freeman to play, and the kid thinks he can go – he can play. As long as he is taking the proper medication and has the asthma inhaler for breathing if he needs it – then he can play. Chris is not the only asthmatic athlete; there are plenty of them out there at all levels of competition. So let’s not hate on an athlete’s success and good fortune by trashing a decision to play after an asthma attack and a clean bill of health from doctors. Go Rams!!!

Trotwood is just trying to kill another one of their players. You must be the parent of this poor kid. Little Freemen I will pray for you because it just goes to show that Trotwood only cares about sports and not their kids.

Let’s just keep in my that it has almost been a year since we lost Lamar. Let’s not just throw his name out there like he’s just anyone. Chris’ situation is different. Lamar didn’t get a chance to get test ran on him and clearance to play after his collapse…So let’s show some respect 4 his family on here.

Here we go again….Trotwood is killing players. If only you could stay off the Meth long enough to see through the smoke…….I don’t dispute the fact that Trotwood is a “sports driven” school, but when it comes to the kids, they care more than you think. Obviously you are not close to the Trotwood family, so again, you are talking about things you know nothing about. And for the record - I’m not Chris’ parent, but if I were I would tell you that you are indeed a hater. That’s ok too – there are a lot of them out there. Don’t tell me…..You were the bench warmer – the kid that never got any action – so it makes sense to me that you can’t find it in you to be happy for someone that has some success. And I guess it is hard too when your unemployment checks are coming to a close. I would be mad too. Here’s a suggestion - If I were you I would be out there trying to find a job, not trashing a kid and his family because of your shortcomings….. Go Rams!!!

Well Lamar’s parents killed them because you cannot tell me they did not know that kid had a heart problem. They must have gotton a fake physical then. FAN2 Just like Freeman’s parents and Trotwood staff are trying to kill him.

cardiomyopathy—the ailment that killed boo—is almost impossible to screen for. you could cut the racism displayed on this post/subject with a knife. it is the biggest story in local sports and it will never get covered. look.. if you don’t like black people move to austrailia where racism is openly part of the deal. the weather is nice there, too—and you won’t be missed back home in dayton.

It took me a while to figure it out. This one is TOO EASY…..I was right – you are NOT part of the Trotwood athletic family. You are 16 or 17 and got cut from the team. Thus, the name “Trotwood Sucks” What a dead giveaway…..Hey, look at the bright side – there will be tryouts again next year, and if you work hard enough you will make the team, so here’s a suggestion – instead of hating on DDN forums, get OFF the weed/meth, get IN the weight room, get ON the track and run some laps…..You just might make it next year… Go Rams!!!!!

MADRID52 Man you figured me out. You must be good at just telling what type of person I am by my writing. Trotwood’s whole district is awful. I feel bad for the kids that are forced to go there. I have heard too many bad stories about Trotwood. It is a shame what they put these kids though. From the stupid Senior project and so on and so on. The list is toooooooooo long. Oh and for the record I am not trashing the kid, I am praying for him.

MADRID52 Wow, I see you are a very bright person. Second reference to Meth. You must use it yourself. Well dumbbo MADRID52, you do not have to tryout for football, STUPID. I see you were one of those geeks in school that got beat up all the time.

Oooooooh, I must have hit a nerve. I gave you too much credit. You were not the bench warmer, you were not even on the team! YOU ARE A JOKE! And you don’t have a clue as to what you are talking about. Go back to the classroom and concentrate on your education you MORON!! Hint: 1+1=2 – Start from there…ok? Go Rams!!!!

Oh, and by the way – if you don’t like Trotwood’s district, don’t come around it, don’t talk about it, don’t write about it, don’t even think about it – There……problem solved!!! Now you can go back to your XBOX you IDIOT! Go Rams!!!

Genius, DUMBO is spelled with ONE “B.” – I will not mention your other shortcomings in regard to your command of the English language. People can see that for themselves. Shame on your English teacher! Sounds to me…and everyone else that reads your posts like more than Trotwood’s Senior Project is “stupid.” Like I said, if you just keep your head in the books and not on the XBOX, you should be ok.
