Halloween items starting to arrive

It may only be early August, but Halloween and fall items are starting to show up in many area stores.

Already I’ve spotted fall and Halloween items at Christmas Tree Shops, Michaels, Hallmark and a few items at Deal$ and Dollar Tree stores.

At Michaels (at least the Beavercreek location), they’ve put out this year’s Lemax Spooky Town display. Things I noted about this year’s collection: they seem to have given up on the western town theme from the last few years, they’ve also ditched the motorcycle themes and this year’s theme seems to be much more fall fun/typical Halloween themed. I also noticed that like in year’s past, Michaels has several exclusive pieces that aren’t in Lemax’s 2010 collection list and on the other hand, is missing some new items from this year’s collection. Also, like with most things in this economy, the prices for most of the pieces have gone up from last year.

Michaels also has their usual assortment of spooky candles, candleabras and other decorations for your home and/or a party.

Hallmark’s Halloween specials are a “Dancin’ Frankenstein” who dances and sings “Monster Mash.” He is $14.95 with the purchase of 3 cards or $29.95 alone.

They also have the Creaky, Squeaky Treat House — $9.95 with Hallmark purchase, a black Halloween Ornament tree — $12.95, ornaments sold separately as well as lighted ghost or cat Glitter Globes for $6.95.

Christmas Tree Shops’ latest flyer features Primitive Halloween decor as well as a variety of Harvest/fall decoration items.

A co-worker also tells me that Yankee Candle stores (and online also) are bursting with festive Halloween candles and accessories.

Have you spotted Halloween items anywhere?

Halloween decorations have been on display at Hobby Lobby since June and shortly after at Cracker Barrel. It is waaaay to early. It ruins the season putting them out this early. You get so tired of looking at them that I don’t want to put my decorations out when October finally does arrive.

And the sad thing is that by the time Halloween gets here, Christmas decorations will already be on display.

It’s insane to bring out holiday items so early. It’s the same idea as Christmas items on display in mid-July. Everyone is still on vacation. It drives me nuts that stores do it. Can’t we enjoy each season before bring in another season on top of it?

78 DAYS UNTIL HALLOWEEN! The kids have already decided what their costumes will be: Alice In Wonderland characters. This gives us just over two months to make all of the costumes. Factoring in homework and all of the usual chores, that’s probably just about enough time.

Our website www.flagsonastick.com has just been updated with new Halloween house and garden flags, as well as mailbox covers, address plaques and windsocks. Our customers enjoy purchasing their Halloween items early. They love being the first in their neighborhood to display their Halloween flag!
