Halloween items starting to arrive

It may only be early August, but Halloween and fall items are starting to show up in many area stores.

Already I’ve spotted fall and Halloween items at Christmas Tree Shops, Michaels, Hallmark and a few items at Deal$ and Dollar Tree stores.

At Michaels (at least the Beavercreek location), they’ve put out this year’s Lemax Spooky Town display. Things I noted about this year’s collection: they seem to have given up on the western town theme from the last few years, they’ve also ditched the motorcycle themes and this year’s theme seems to be much more fall fun/typical Halloween themed. I also noticed that like in year’s past, Michaels has several exclusive pieces that aren’t in Lemax’s 2010 collection list and on the other hand, is missing some new items from this year’s collection. Also, like with most things in this economy, the prices for most of the pieces have gone up from last year.

Michaels also has their usual assortment of spooky candles, candleabras and other decorations for your home and/or a party.

Hallmark’s Halloween specials are a “Dancin’ Frankenstein” who dances and sings “Monster Mash.” He is $14.95 with the purchase of 3 cards or $29.95 alone.

They also have the Creaky, Squeaky Treat House — $9.95 with Hallmark purchase, a black Halloween Ornament tree — $12.95, ornaments sold separately as well as lighted ghost or cat Glitter Globes for $6.95.

Christmas Tree Shops’ latest flyer features Primitive Halloween decor as well as a variety of Harvest/fall decoration items.

A co-worker also tells me that Yankee Candle stores (and online also) are bursting with festive Halloween candles and accessories.

Have you spotted Halloween items anywhere?
