Incoming middle school honor students to participate in Summer Reading Program
Hamilton City Honors Academy’s Summer Reading Program allows incoming seventh grade Honors Academy students to choose from The Red Pony by John Steinbeck, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey.
According to Wilson Middle School teacher Lisa Caudill, students will read their chosen book and then using the technology of nicenet.org, a free, secure website for education, post literary responses as well as a friendly letter of introduction over the summer.
This allows students to continue learning over summer break as well as to interact with their new teacher and classmates before they enter the classroom in September. In addition, exposure to classic literature allows them to develop a life long appreciation for reading.
Books are available at Books A Million, Half Price Books, and Borders as well as on-line and extra assignment forms will be available at each middle school during June.
