Ross Middle School Science Olympiad team places 5th at regionals
The Ross Middle School Science Olympiad team place fifth overall in the regional competition held at Raymond Walters on Saturday, March 6, competing against 14 area school.
Members of the RMS team included Lindsay Gottlieb, Abby Mills, Sierra Mize, Ben Duggins, Madison Lewis, Andrea Guiterrez, Celeste Bullach, Jayson Rook, Allie Gabbard, Jessica McCoy, Sandra Koch, Elisha Toney, Sarah Newman, Kelly Ellis and Sydney Meinzer. Alternates were Jacob Reid, Aaron Taske and Ronald Riggs
In individual events, Abby Mills Sydney Meinzer won first place awards in the Disease Detectives event, and Sierra Mize and Ben Duggins won first place in Ornithology.
Abby Mills and Sierra Mize took second place in Ecology; Sierra Mize and Ben Duggins second place in Fossils; and Andrea Gutierrez and Celeste Bullach in Write It, Do It.
Andrea Gutierrez and Celeste Bullach also won third place in the Compute This event.
Fourth place finishes went to Sarah Newman, Madison Lewis, Ben Duggins, Madison Lewis, Sandra Koch and Jessica McCoy.
Fifth place finishes Lindsay Gottlieb and Madison Lewis, and sixth place finishes to Andrea Gutierrez, Celeste Bullach, Abby Mills, Sydney Meinzer, Kelly Ellis and Sarah Newman.
The coaches for the RMS team were Rina Dizon, Kori Woodrum, Stacy Rullman Nicole Collins.
Congratulations to all of the students and coaches who have been working so hard preparing for the competition. Ross Middle School is proud to be represented by such a wonderful group of students and coaches!
