Zellen Miller briefs Hamilton High School volunteers who will come up with fun and exciting ways to promote the Fill That Bus campaign.

“It’s important to create an atmosphere in the school where we care about our community,” said Coach Jim Place, leader of the district’s Character Education program.

Garfield Middle School seventh grader Adam Robbins’ makes his school’s first “Fill That Bus” contributions, the result of winning a “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire” style quiz show at the kick-off assembly on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

“Young people can make a difference in the world,” said history teacher Matt Wilson, who led the assembly. “That’s very contrary to American culture. In America today, all that’s expected of you is to consume. Today, we’re going to raise the bar a little.”
