Hamilton students get ready to fill busses with food

Students in Ellyn Whiteash’s Hamilton High School art classes created a series of posters that hang throughout the building getting students fired up about Fill That Bus.

“It’s important to create an atmosphere in the school where we care about our community,” said Coach Jim Place, leader of the district’s Character Education program.

Garfield Middle School seventh grader Adam Robbins’ makes his school’s first “Fill That Bus” contributions, the result of winning a “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire” style quiz show at the kick-off assembly on Wednesday, Jan. 6.
“Young people can make a difference in the world,” said history teacher Matt Wilson, who led the assembly. “That’s very contrary to American culture. In America today, all that’s expected of you is to consume. Today, we’re going to raise the bar a little.”
