Students at Fillmore continue to assist fellow student
Update from Fillmore Elementary:
When you belong to Fillmore’s family, you can expect support through thick and thin! Fillmore has proven that with their recent trip to visit one of its own, Tyler Rothert. Tyler is bravely battling lymphoma and is unable to attend school, so the whole school went to him!
In addition to the trip, Fillmore’s new community service club, Community Kids, had a bake sale with all proceeds going to Tyler and his family. Cupcakes for a Cause was held in early October. Nearly every member of this club of 40 plus members baked cupcakes and brought them in for sale. They sold over 900 cupcakes in two days to raise $451.00 for the Rotherts. That’s a lot of cupcakes! They aren’t done yet either! Through the month of November, Community Kids will be collecting change for Tips for Tyler. Nickels, dimes, quarters and pennies can add up quickly! Fillmore wants Tyler well and back at school!

Also, Fillmore fifth grader Madelynn Ann Pitcher said that she’ll turn over her winnings from the Recycled Sculpture Contest at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts to the Tyler Rothert fund.
Pitcher made a “Green Bird Feeding Habitat Station” largely out of old bottles. “I couldn’t believe it. I actually was very happy,” she said, pointing out that her grandfather, Larry Presley, gave her the idea when they were planning to make birdhouses.
