A Portrait of the Pyramid Hill Ancient Sculpture Collection
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts, 101 S. Monument Ave., continues its Celebrating Self Luncheon Series Wednesday, Nov. 10, with a lecture, “Wonderful Things: A Portrait of the Pyramid Hill Ancient Sculpture Collection.”
Steven L. Tuck, archaeologist, art historian and associate professor of classics at Miami University, Oxford will discuss the ancient sculpture collection at Pyramid Hill. Attendees will learn about the collection and the sculptural traditions of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. Highlights include portraits, tomb monuments, cult statues and religious dedications from more than 2,000 years of art. The presentation will examine the efforts of artists, stories behind the works, and those commissioned and portrayed in the sculptures.
The buffet lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. will be in the Carruthers Signature Ballroom opens. Musical entertainment will be by Treva Boardman. Cost for members is $15, for non-members. $17. For tickets call (513) 863.8873 ext. 110.
