Echo and others saved by Pedigree Adoption Drive
If you have seen the Pedigree TV commercial with the dog Echo in the shelter and being passed by, you know how heart-wrenching it was.
Apparently, the Pedigree ad campaign was very successful in more ways than one. Pedigree was happy to see dog food sales rise, but even more exciting was the interest and awareness it has raised for shelter dogs. Per an article from MediaPost Communications, there was so much interest in Echo’s story, Pedigree was compelled to show how Echo fared.
Echo, a Border collie mix, who struggled to find a home was adopted out to a loving home, as were 12 other dogs featured in the six-week campaign.
You may have seen the sequel to the first commercial. It begins with showing Echo in the shelter and the line, “I don’t know how I got here, (screen goes dark) but I’ll never forget the day I got out.” It’s followed by Echo in her new home running around playing and enjoying a belly rub.
The Pedigree company launched a non-profit foundation dedicated to providing grants to shelters around the country that has raised $750,000 so far.
The original ads were targeted around the Westminster Dog Show, but they expanded it since it has done so well, not only for the company, but for shelter dogs everywhere.
