Female passenger tries to conceal drugs under her shirt
A 40-year-old male driver and his 30-year-old female passenger were both arrested on possible felony charges Aug. 17 after a routine traffic stop revealed thousands of dollars worth of drugs and a loaded handgun in the vehicle.
According to a Dayton Police report, the Cadillac driven by the male was observed making three different turns without signalling before being pulled over in the 200 block of West Parkwood at about 9:30 p.m.
The driver told police that he was having trouble with the car’s turn signals, according to the report, but the strong smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle prompted further search.
When the female was asked to exit the vehicle, she removed a pillow that had been covering her lap, but would not stand up straight. An officer noticed a large bulge under her clothes and said “I can see it right there and I’m going to charge you with it,” according to the report. At that point the female pulled out a bag containing 65 grams of heroin.
Another bag apparently fell to her feet at some point and was found to contain 25 grams of crack cocaine. Also found in the car was the female’s purse containing a jar full of about an ounce of marijuana and a loaded handgun in the trunk.
The male driver, who was not supposed to be in possession of a gun due to past charges involving aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping could be charged with carrying a concealed weapon and having weapons while under disability, both felonies.
He caused officers additional problems by pretending to faint during his arrest and refusing to allow officers to read him his Miranda rights, the report states.
