Man admits leaving threats on voicemail not the best idea
The suspect said enough to get a ride to the Montgomery County Regional Jail to face aggravated menacing charges.
Police were called to the 1500 block of Xenia around 6:30 yesterday evening on reports of threats. En route, officers spotted a group of people on Xenia who matched the description and stopped to speak with them.
When asked, a 23-year-old man explained, “Basically, I’m from Northridge, he’s from East Dayton and we don’t get along.”
Police continued on to the caller’s address to get the other side to the story. The 46-year-old man explained the family of the 23-year-old had rented a house from him and had recently been evicted. The 23-year-old took exception to his mother being evicted and twice called the 46-year-old and threatened to “do him in” adding he knew where the man and his family lived. All of which was saved for posterity on the 46-year-old’s voice mail.
Police returned to the 23-year-old and asked why he would leave threats on voicemail.
“I’m an idiot,” the 23-year-old said as police cuffed him. His family was warned not to have any contact with the 46-year-old and his family.
The 23-year-old was released on $2,500 bond on two counts of first-degree misdemeanor aggravated menacing.
