Woman grabs officer in privates during arrest

A Dayton patrol officer got quite the surprise when a previously cooperative suspect went rogue.

The officer spotted the 23-year-old woman around 5:45 Thursday morning walking down the middle of Watervliet Avenue. The officer stopped and questioned her, finding a crack pipe in a cigarette pack.

The woman was cuffed and put in the back of his cruiser. A second officer arrived and asked if he needed assistance. Because the woman had been cooperative and honest, the first officer declined assistance.

Once the paperwork was complete, he told the woman he was going to buckle her into her seat belt. As he exited the cruiser, “without any warning (she) kicked out the cruiser’s right rear window,” according to his report.

The officer rushed around the cruiser and grabbed the handcuffed woman as she threw herself out the window.

The officer and the handcuffed woman continued to struggle on the ground outside the cruiser. As the officer was calling for backup, the woman managed to get both her hands on a portion of his anatomy “and began to pull, causing great pain to me,” the officer reported.

He was able to break her grasp and warned her twice he would use his Taser if she did not cease struggling. She continued her struggle, and the officer Tased her. She continued to resist for several seconds before other officers arrived and subdued her.

The woman was taken to the county lockup. When she makes her initial court appearance next year, she faces possible charges of assault of a police officer.
