mr sheriff jones. is the only person in this country that is trying to keep this country.if every one would do thier part in helping him you would help all of us.this country could be like it was when i was a child 68years ago.cant we please unite for a common cause and work together to save our country.
We applaud the comments made by Dennis Conrad of Reily Township and appreciate the kind of dependable resourceful community that he runs. At least in Reily they did not run out of resources such as food, FUEL and ICE and was able to make Fire and EMS runs in their township and surrounding areas. We believe he knows how to run a township or the people of Reily would not have elected him as township trustee for the last thirty years. Mr. Jones the people of this small community might be the votes that get you elected or NOT.
I wish to thank the 2 city insp from Hamilton that got our power back on for the 7+ houses on Southern Hills. It was found that our calls had not been reported. Also want to thank the men from Cleveland OH and also the 2 other men from Hamilton Oh. I had called into the city over 1 1/2 wk ago about line about coming loose from pole but no one came to check out. Not sure if that would have helped but point is no communication was relayed to the appropriate people.
How do we fix it? Remember the role of government and vote for those who will work toward those goals. Government is to provide for your safety and security in addition to other things. When local politicians use your money to line their pockets and those of their friends at the expense of the local budget, they are betraying your trust. When the surplus is gone and they cut your safety services while spending on frivolities, they have stolen your safety.
How do we assure that this type of response is not repeated in the future? The EMA should be replaced, no question. We need an atmosphere of cooperation and a serious attitude toward emergency planning. As it is, the EMA enjoys an air of entitlement. Remember when Katrina hit NOLA, the FEMA director subsequently resigned (was fired) for being totally unprepared. Although, a lax attitude toward preparedness is shared among all local politicians.
Regarding the request of Mr. jones to consilidate the EMA under his juridiction, that would be improper. Under Ohio law, the ranking fire official of the jurisdiciton has authority over emergency scenes. His authority as Sheriff would be compromised as being in a subordiate position at an emergency while retaining the second highest police authority in the county (check the Coroner’s authority). That would be a serious conflict of interest.
If that Ice give away in Liberty Township wasn’t a political stunt, why was the politicians from Fairfield, West Chester and Liberty there to get their ugly mugs on TV.
I can’t remember ever hearing the sheriff say anything good or positive about anyone other than himself. The man is so self absorbed he’s becoming dangerous.
The EMA is charged with being the point of contact for local agencies to receive aid from nearby agencies. He has the responsibility to coordinate and has the authority to request through proper channels aid from the state adnthen federal agencies. That requires that local jurisdictions plan (cooperatively) and respond as requested, when possible. The EMA has not fostered this action and has, at times, used his position to reinforce his ego, at our cost.
i think that sheriff jones is the goof in this situation, he has went and stuck his foot in his mouth one to many times, if he’s not on the radio he’s on tv making it look like he’s the one changing the world when it comes down to it he ‘s just sitting behind a desk telling his leachs what to do, when it comes to the election in november i urge people to really think about which person to vote for, in november sheriff jones is going to get a big fat no from me
Next disaster, the county EMA says if it is a tornado, everyone should report to Paul Brown stadium … Because as we all know, there won’t be a touchdown there

Calm down people. If this power outage has you shaken then prepare yourselves. For when Christ shall return to this earth, if you not one of his children, and are left here on earth, this is nothing compared to what is coming. Your children will be missing, your loved ones, babies, planes left with no pilots, railroads with no conductors, gone, cars crashing because their drivers have taken an upward flight into the heavens, employees gone from their jobs. Prepare yourselves for this one.
I live on Ellen Drive, and for some reason our power came back on Sunday night even though most of my neighbors did not. So, I have spent the week trying to help them out. One had their fridge plugged into our house via extension cord and we were giving away all the ice my fridge could make. What I don’t understand is why places like Catalina trailor park were not a higher priority since they need electric to have water. I really don’t see much of method to Dukes restoration efforts.
A big THANK YOU belongs to Middletown’s Police and Fire Department for all their work after Sunday’s storm. There were Stop signs at intersections within a short amount of time to ensure the safety of drivers. We talked with neighbors we probably wouldn’t have on a normal Sunday evening. We were invited to have dinner off their grill. We helped each other clean up the debris. In times like this, we have to count our blessings. It could have been worse. A big thank you to Rumpke and Duke employee
Hey watch dog, you for got the sheriff you move to his position because he sleeps with the former sheriff’s daughter. Does nayone thinkj Rick Jones would ever have been sheriff if not for Don Gabbard?
If you look at the Butler EMA website, the only information is Mr. Turners lengthy bio which indicates he has worked his entire career sucking off of taxpayers in do-nothing jobs in small one horse towns. So how did Barney Fife get to head the EMA in Butler County? Who are the rest of the clowns on the EMA Board ? They also need to be replaced.
Thanks to all the Emergency Service personnel & all the utility crews that have done more than their share to get Hamilton back up and running as best they can with the resources they have. We have ALL been inconvenienced at bit, some of us have been damaged more than others. Nature is random in her fury. We can all work together to get back to our normals. To the pisenmoaners of our society - the wind may kiss a butterfly and you know the rest of the words!
Day 5, almost 6 and still no electric on my side of the street(chippewa) in cherokee park. Thats ok though, if you think about how bad it could have been. No one in my community is stranded on their roof while flooding waters inch up ever closer to the terrified families hoping to be rescued before they drown like they are in Texes. So I have to charge my cell in the car, laptop too, fridays paycheck groceries, ruined. But we are alive. Be thankful! Thank you Duke! We know your doing your best!
To all the Duke employees…THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! I know you were all working very very hard and very long hours probably without much thanks. I even think there have been threats against you all because of the presence of the Monroe Police at the Todhunter plant. That is really sad. As if it were your fault that we don’t have electricity! We got ours restored on Tuesday evening and we appreciate it very much. I see you working around town and I know you are doing your very best.
I am also sick of welfare.
I would love for these people to wake up one day & it be gone. I work in a medical office & I see it everyday. In the USA there is not a reason, except for laziness, not to have an education. It is free which is more than most other countries. The Democrats of course want these people to be
poor & uneducated so they can keep stringing them along. Some of these people live better than the working class that are paying for the welfare sponges.
People are unbelievable.
This storm was nothing compared to what other people in the southern states suffered. We should learn to be more self sufficient. I think all of the crews and govt.agencies did a great job.And anyone living in Hamilton should never complain
about the response of the city. Why would someone think CG&E would have gotten this
taken care of sooner? They never had a storm like this to deal with.
I am 55 yrs old and have never seen wind like this from any other hurricanes.
Sherm: You must be one of those that expects the govt to wipe your butt.
Of course you took the “free” ice. I understood that Home City Ice was giving it away. Why don’t you get a job? Why do you even have a phone ar cable or a cell phone?
Don’t you have any pride?
We we are all inconvenienced and annoyed
and probably a little scared by sunday. But
we should really be counting our blessings.
My heart goes out to the Fairfield fire
chiefs family who lost their son
and daughter, and especially their little
baby who now has no mother and father. food, electricity, phones, they are
just things…..that atleast you can
have again.

We live in Fairborn , And been without power since the storm hit , I haven’t seen not one DP&L worker , We lost all our food in the freezer and fridge , there is no ice available here , and my husband lost 4 days of work dued to no power in dayton , I know its the trials we go through to bring forth the blessing , And the blessing is thank god not many was hurt like in other area’s in our country , but it would be nice if we could some kind of help in food replenshing or some ice may god bless u
Now come on Freedom Lover let’s blame the president that is in office! You cannot blame someone who is running for president? Does that make any sense? We are all hurting here and BUSH is our president not OBAMA. Call him up or email the BUSH administration and see if they can help you now.
I to drove through an picked up ice and must agree that I found the good time atmosphere with all the political figures a little out of place.
They were sure in high spirts and enjoying themselves.
Come on people stop trying to make this a political issue. Can’t people and organizations do something without any motives other than helping their fellow man. You read way too much into this crap.
I live on Shuler Ave in Hamilton. Tree fell down and covered the entire street, taking out power and cable lines. We got turned back on last night. And as of this afternoon, the tree was still in the middle of the street, just in pieces. Workers came out today to start cutting it up. I was able to save the items in my deep freeze thanks to my work. For those of you that don’t have power, I am still praying for you all. Everyone just needs to work together and get through this mess.
I actually went through the Ice line and got the free ice. I’d say the democratic party should challenge the giving of the ice purchased with tax dollars for it sure looked like more of a republican party event than concerned people helping those in need. I counted four big name republicans who are running for office smiling and laughing while using tax dollars to impress voters. They should have had a sign up saying “I’m Donnie Dixon, Rickie Jones and Gary Cates and I approve this message”.
To the Person asking what INS company covered food. Our’s is American Family ( Fairfield Office), it was covered under our HomeOwners policy. I had no issue, but I did take pictures of our food lost, and wrote everything down. Ours was covered upto $250. Some policy covers more ( upto $500), and I was even told Condo and Renter policies also cover food lost with them. I have a GREAT Agent, very helpful office staff. GoodLuck to all
To Taylor & others who had phone service. We also had a landline old cord phone, not battery, and still no phone service for 4 days. We had no knolwedge of water boil advisories/level 3/etc. No phone/power/tv/computer/no recharging cell phones, etc. YOU ARE ISOLATED. I admit over thE last 50 yrs with Cincy Bell this is the 1st time no phone service longer than 1 day ever occurred. What would we have done for a medical emergency, even our neighbors landline phones were dead.
I don’t believe God gave us a warning on just how bad this storm would be. My area got hit pretty hard, mostly trees with minor home damages. I was without power until mid morning on Thursday. Lost freezer and fridge contents, but had roof, running water and gas to cook with. Duke did a GREAT JOB as far as I’am concerned. The people that are complaining, need to look around and they’ll find people in a lot worst shape that we were.
Turner should have been coordinating relief before the crisis occured. Water and Ic should have already been in storage or prior arrangements should have been made for immediate delivery when needed.
Once the scope of the damage was readily apparent Monday morning, ice and water distribution could have begun then.
Turner failed to plan and screwed this one up - period.
Turner, who is organizing a countywide water distribution plan, said his efforts are largely “behind the scenes.”
The job of the EMA is to organize and coordinated distribution plans before the crisis hits. Water and Ice should already be stored or be readily available based upon prior arrangements.
The distribution points should already be known and these efforts should have been evident by Monday morning when the scope of the problem was readily apparent.
Turner screwed up - period.
I grew up near Hamilton where my folks still live. I live in a semi-rural in western Washington.
Try losing your poswer in the middle of winter for 3 days one time and 10 days a previous time. My family did just fine. I think it is calle SELF RELIANCE.
Many of you have lost sight of the fact that God’s blessing have given the life we live here. THINK ABOUT THAT and then thank him for it as you head out to help and bless your neighbor
Just a brief response to ROBERT. I don’t claim to be Christian. I don’t claim to be any religion. I don’t go to church b/c weekends and evenings are the only time I have to see my children b/c I am working a full time job, and a part time job, as is my husband just so that we can afford to keep a roof over our children’s heads, food on our table, PAY FULL PRICE for child care in addition to paying for all of these amenities for the system dwellers who don’t pay in or earn their keep!

Some positive things I saw from the storm:
1. Kids riding bikes instead of playing video games.
2. Getting to know my neighbors better.
3. My church opening its doors to provide food and power.
4. Neighbors helping one another.
5. People checking to make sure that others are ok.
6. Duke energy workers and city crews working around the clock to help us get our power back and to get the streets cleared.
7. I know that all of the food in my fridge is fresh now :)
I have been out of power since Sunday. I have seen only one Duke Energy truck during that time in my neighborhood. Last spring, when the power went off, Duke was working on areas in my neighborhood, then left my side of the street dark for three days.
What I dont understand is WHY there are pockets of no power? When house surrounding me have power and I don’t it seems like Duke hasn’t a clue as to where there transformers are.
Just wanted to say how nice it was to finally flip the light switch and actually have light. A BIG thank you to all of the workers. We have so much to be thankful for. This could have been so much worse, like some of the storm victims have had to deal with. Thank God he was with us, and no more lives lost than were, not trying to diminish the sadness of those that did occur. Be thankful - not bitter. WE ARE SO SPOILED.
First my power is out for FOUR days! My cellphone hardly works, my cable just came on 2 hours ago,
and NOW I have to GO to the JFS office and WAIT
to get more money on my card, when I really need
to get to the store! Why not just scan the money
in??? I could have used that ice, but Jones and
his croneys were passing it out to all the rich
folks in West Chester, like they really need it!
When I walk through the door people better start singing “Hallelujah”!!! If he had it his way he would get rid of all other county government and retitle himself as King Rick!
Michele, I live in Central Fl and 4 yrs ago we had 3 hurricanes. We lost power for 2 weeks. We had state farm and they did pay (food) minus the $500 deductible (we had $11,000 damage). Now they changed the deductible amt. to $2,400 (2%).We are also paying a % of the damage done on the coast. So, if you have ANY damage turn it in, even trees that you clean up yourself (estimate it). You can cover your deductible, St.Farm covers themself! EVERYONE here was offered food stamps, Call State office!
ALERT: Message to Butler EMA Board Chairman Dennis Conrad,, if you and Reily Township don’t have ice then it’s because you haven’t taken any personal responsibility to go out and get it yourself. Blame yourself and the rest of your arrogant members for thinking you know more than the average citizen. While you’re out “whining”, the rest of us are out “doing”. Isn’t it a fact Mr. Conrad that EMA vehicles and resources have been un-used during this emergency? Look are your sorry website for help.
I still don’t have power, I didn’t have phone service at home until Tues. afternoon, I’m taking cold showers, lost most of my food but thankfully managed to save what frozen meat that I could by taking it Mon. night to a friend’s house with power. We have three coolers set up with soda, water, milk, and enough food to get us by. I’m NOT complaining!!! I’ll get power when I get power and until then I’ll survive!! I just want to say THANKS to those working hard to help restore the power!
I live on Brentwood as earlier posted, and I agree, where in the hell are the city workers, half of brentwood still barricaded off, and Winton is all caution taped, and wires hanging like hangman, it is day 5 still nothing, and by the way the area on Winton is a damn bus stop, thanks Middletown for making our kids safe, Bless all of you on this site, I hope this soon passes, and we can all go back to living, this situation has made us all stir crazy
I am gratful for no more damage than what we had. we can get over that. Yes our power was out 2 days and we lost most all of the food in the fridge. But it is all good, LEARN FROM THIS PEOPLE! I have and I will be applying all I have learned from it. I cooked breakfast outside, it was so tasty. Stayed at my mom’s one night, had a good time. Kids and I played games, it was wonderful. Like I said, LEARN FROM THIS!!!!!!We are all so blessed!!!!!!
I am a Hamilton native, in the Air Force stationed at Shaw AFB. I want to thank all of the positive people who instead of whining helped each other, including my family. To those of you who aren’t grateful to be alive and thankful for what you do have, you are an embarrassment. Stop griping and start helping. I have plenty of friends that are halfway across the world and still don’t have as much as you do. At least you have your faimly and friends. Grow up.
Grow up.
I am so sick of everyone thinking that their problems are worse than someone else’s. Most of us were in similar situations, some worse than others. I am on a volunteer fire department and was delivering bottled water to people just last night that still don’t have electric or water and everyone that I met was grateful, not hateful. The problem with society today is that it’s a “me society”. If it’s not about me then I don’t care. Just try to do one nice thing for someone other than yourself.
People complaining of no phones. We had phones during this. Did anyone try a cord phone. Our cordless didn’t work, because they use electric. But Our phone with a cord worked fine. We have Cincinnati Bell phone service. Also cell phones work. Back to old fashion ways. Still think they are better. :)
Someone please tell me. What’s up with this “Food Stamp Replacement”. I am a happily married woman with two kids and it takes both of us to work and maintain our household expenses along with our groceries each month. We sure didn’t have the extra money lying around just waiting for our food to spoil. Do you think we could receive “extra” pay, of course not. We working people are once again paying for the lazy ones who are as young and healty has we are to sit at home and live off of us.
Barbara and Heather: I know it’s frustrating, but the police can’t do anything with a down power line, they are not trained to. Also, calling the police will not get you a response any quicker from the electric company, they treat dispatch centers just as they do the general public (we’ll get there when we get there). It’s a shame we are at their mercy in situations like this, but that’s just the way it is.
My daughter whom lives on Seneca here in Middletown, has had a power line down laying across the road as well as a large tree in the middle of the road. She is still without power. We have reported the lines and tree blocking the street several times to Duke Energy and to the Police dept. To no avail it is still there and she is still without power. We realize that Duke and the Police have had their hands full, but come on a power line in the middle of the road!!!!!!!
Lets just be happy most of us have a home to go to when the power comes back on. Yeah i had to stay at my sisters for tow days but i would have stayed home if she didnt have power. What happens if we lost power all together? Would you be able to survive? I would………………….
Most all of you up there are very lucky I live in Kentucky near the tennessee line and before I met my husband he said there was an awful snow storm that left the whole county without electric for 2 weeks or more they had to use burn barrels for heat, cooking, heating up coffee etc. That happens sometimes you just have to figure out how to handle emergencies like these when they happen whether it be summer or winter plan ahead of time because winter is not far away and the same thing could happen
Day 5 – no electric. Day 4 – was without phone for 4 days. No phone/no electric/no computer.
First of all - money spent on upgraded technology like “dummer” (Doppler) radar we had no warning that this severe weather was reaching all the way up to us from Galveston area. There was better weather forecasting in 1950-60’s! Secondly, good, old faithful CG&E - we never suffered a power loss more than 1 day, EVER! Now we are 5 days into no power with Duke Energy. It is a monopoly, I cannot go elsewhere for my power or I would! Thirdly, I read all these comments about city workers sleeping on the job. I am seeing that happen. The power pole on Neilan Blvd has been hoisted into half position since Tuesday and no progress. My husband made the comment that pole should be a 5-hour job but they will surely make a 5-day job out of it. Guess what – now on day 5, no progress at that spot!!! This was a big lesson and changed my thought on being prepared. We prepared but will make some major changes in areas that need to make up for the loss created by this emergency outage. I would like to say to all those people that ONLY went 1 or 2 days without power/phones, etc. and think the rest of us out here into 5 days without are crying and babies. Let’s switch places. You live without power/phones/gas for 5 days and I will take your spot where you have all of these amenities. Then we will see how many feel the rest of us are crybabies.
What part of not being prepared for an emergency are the residents of Butler/Warren counties not understanding? Let’s just blame Duke and everyone else and not accept any responsibility for taking care of our families. If it hadn’t been Hurricane Ike, it could have been a tornado or something else. Learn to use dry ice to prevent the lose of frozen foods…stock up on water, canned goods, etc. You may not be able to prevent the emergency, but you can be better prepared.

I live in Ross and still do not have electric. Everyone around us does but the subdivision called bird land doesn’t. I just went to the grocery store and bought $500.00 worth of food. not that i had the money i work two jobs and had nothing. so i saved up and shop for deals. Hopefully i can get some of it back and work 78 hours a weeks. some people deserve food stamps most are just lazy.
How come that 2 days (going on day 3) after electric power is restored that the traffic lights on State Route 63 on the immediate east side and west side of I-75 is still not functioning? This area will be in chaos this weekend when the flea markets are open if it is going to be ignored by officials. I haven’t seen anyone working on them whatsoever. It is bad enough with the lights functioning. It is pretty retarded on someone’s part that this problem is being ignored.
michele -I also have state farm & I had the same understanding you did. I didnt have $500 in groceries but I did lose $300 worth of groceries. I am just aggrivated that I had to personally replace those groceries, when people on food stamps just have to fill out another request for more assistance. They didn’t pay for the food in the first place. But it’s just ANOTHER sign of how messed up this system is helping those who don’t pay into the system & leaving those who do to fend for ourselves.

How come 2 days after power has been restored in Monroe that both sets of red lights on State Rt. 63 on the immediate east and west side of I-75 still does not function. That has been a major traffic headache at both of those locations and it is bad enough there when the lights are working. Are there any officials aware of this problem? Do they even care? I have not seen anyone working on those lights at all.
I agree! What about us hard working people who pay MONEY for our food?? Before I rant, some people do need food stamps but for the lazy ones who do not work and who keep popping out kids knowing they will be cared for by the taxpayers dollars, now they can go and get MORE FOODSTAMP FOOD while us working people will have to go without something to replace everything we lost! What a crime!!

After reading some of these posts regarding insurance covering loss of food, I just now called mine (State Farm). I was told that yes they do, minus my $500 deductible, they said to write down an itemized statement of what was lost and the amount. I luckily did not lose, nor could ever afford, that much so I am not going to file a claim. But State Farm will cover it, minus your deductible!!
Politcal gain via bags of ice .Are people really dumb enough to think that really did anything!
A handful of people got to keep their beer cold !
Possibly a bit of lunch meat was chilled!
Lets just be honest nothing of major importance occured !
If some bags of ice is all you need to get attention the people over at Speedway are up for election too !

The Sheriff saw a need (ice) and while everyone else was standing around without doing anything he took the bull by the horns and delivered. Now he is getting heat for working for us.
Butler County politicos are looking like Cincinnati City Council.
I just read that if you live in Warren County and used food stamps to purchase the food that ended up spoiling in the outage, you can complete a request to have your food stamps replaced. Well what about the rest of us who paid out of pocket for groceries that spoiled? What about the thousands of us who took our paychecks that we got on Fridays to the grocery stores and paid our own HARD EARNED money and watched our food spoil also. Insurance will only cover it if you lost over $500 worth.
Williamsdale. We got our power restored Wednesday around 8:15 p.m. It was wonderful! Unlike some,we were very patient, but happy to see the light when it happened. Considering all that was out and that are still out, I think they have done the best they could. Thanks Duke Energy!
Jones is a joke. Another power hungry conservative Republican evangelist who believes he has been annointed by God. Send this goofball back to Kentucky with all the other hillrats.
He would have more credibility if he didn’t pull out of the disaster planning meetings because he wanted to be the “leader” for local policing efforts in times of an emergency. He wanted all community police departments to fall under his jurisdiction. He is just another joke with a badge.
The most interesting part of this and all other disaster or things such as this is that you get to learn that some people are helpful and kind hearted while the rest just b***h about how terrible things are and make things a politcal issue .As for the moron that made the goverment/Obama comment ,the goverment should focus on Texas NOT Ohio and it would be in poor taste for someone running for office to use a disaster as a pivot point in the election. WE ARE LUCKY IT WASNT WORSE.

Just because other people have it worse — which they obviously do and I feel for them — doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to complain and vent your frustration at the inept power restoration process. I’ve had power since Monday morning, so I’m not complaining. I’m just saying people need to quit bashing those who are. Yes, others have it worse, but that doesn’t lessen the trouble they’re going through. Most of you would be doing the exact same thing if you were in their situation.
State Farm does cover loss of food, but I believe you still have to pay your homeowners deductible. If your deductible is $1000, and you only lost $300 worth of food, then no, they won’t cover it. They have concidered this a “catastrophe”. All you have to do is provide a list of what you lost and estimated cost of what you paid for it. My food was covered, but I also had to file a claim for damage to my roof and fence.
am proud of most of my butler county neighbors for their positive attitudes while dealing with this “small inconvenience”—-the whiners should feel fortunate to be alive and able to continue whining—-some things never change!
with regards to someone’s comment on an insurance company not covering food spoilage,,well,,you have to have that coverage in order to use it—Please read your insurance policies-

My wife and I reside in Fairfield Twp and we were back up on Tuesday Afternoon. Growing up,I had my electricity cut off and didn’t know the importance, but when you are a home owner, you appreciate the little things that much more. We were blesse to say the least. Very minimal damage. I thank God for not having to experience the true disasters of Katrina, Ike etc. We’ve found ourselves using our lights way less since our power has been back on. I expect our bill to be $4.50 this mth!! LOL!
I’m waiting for Sheriff Jones to run for a higher political office. He always seems to criticize the other government officials and is power hungry.
He jumps the gun to make himself look better. With hurricane Katrina, he sent officers before the fed’s requested them. They wouldn’t have been covered by Ohio Worker’s Comp or anything. He wants to take over EMA but he doesn’t seem to even know the process that must be followed.
i have been reading all these comments that you all are posting and i say that you all suck… my wife and her co-workers get a hats off from me. they took care of not only there selves but they also took care of all the elderly that stay in the nursing home that she works in. and they did it with out any complaints or regrets. they are the true heroes of this storm……..
I live in Middletown, in Madison Township, and I just want to say that people in my area know how to come together and help each other out. Everyone pitched in cleaning up yards, cutting down trees and taking care of the elderly in our neighborhood. Thank you to all the volunteer fireman, sheriffs department and DP&L for all that you have done. This is a time when ALL people should come together, help each other out and make the best of a bad situation. IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE!!!!!!
I LIVE ON THE WESTSIDE OF HAMILTON OH. MY NEIGHBORS ACROSS THE STREET AND HOUSES ON EACH END OF MY STREET HAVE POWER BUT THERE ARE 7 HOUSES THAT ARE STILL WITHOUT POWER. WE HAVE CALLED THE UTIL COMPANY BUT NO RESPONSE, ALL THEY DO IS TAKE YOUR PHONE NUMBER. EVEN HAD A CITY WORKER CALL THE UTIL CO AND THEY PRACTICALLY HUNG UP ON HIM. THE ONLY THING THAT PROBABLY NEEDS TO BE DONE IS THE CIRCUIT REENGAGED ON THE POLE. LESS THAN A 5 MINUTE JOB. ALL WIRES ARE INTACT.
Never truly appreciating them before, I have decided that lights, my tv, and refrigerator (working!) are miracles, and am thankful.
On the other hand, if you are dissatisfied with the official response to the blackout, or the economy, or immigration, or whatever, remember that when you go to the polls in November!
What? You don’t vote?
You who are doing all the complaining grow up and be thankful for what you have. my parents live in new carlisle and a tree fell on their house and destroyed it, they have to have the house entirely re-built, all their furniture was destroyed - they lost everyhting they had. So,be appericative for what you have. You might just wake up tomorrow and not have it. Now they have to live out of a hotel for 3 months to wait until their house gets done. So please stop complaining and take a look around.
By enlarge Hamilton,as will as Butler County has it’s good, and bad the last few days we’ve seen both.As for our Sheriff, and most of our utility worker’s live right here, you think their utilities were up and running before your’s was,DON’T THINK SO…I don’t know many in this county that works 24/7 to try and make this county any safer, then our Sheriff. The only people that DON’T make mistakes, are the ones that do nothing, and man we have a lot that,s never made one-mistake.
I read a post somewhere on here that said that State Farm homeowners insurance is not covering food loss. My policy with them offers up to $500 reimbursement for food spoilage. All I had to do was make a list of what I lost and its value. They cut me a check on the spot. I would fight the insurance company on this one. Good Luck!
We finally have power! This was a bit inconvenient but we had a great time hanging out with our neighbors. I have a new appreciation for what others go through when they get hit with the wind and rain and are down for weeks (not days). Thanks Duke for getting our power back on.

The Democrats of course want these people to be poor & uneducated so they can keep stringing them along. Some of these people live better than the working class that are paying for the welfare sponges.

People are unbelievable. This storm was nothing compared to what other people in the southern states suffered. We should learn to be more self sufficient. I think all of the crews and govt.agencies did a great job.And anyone living in Hamilton should never complain about the response of the city. Why would someone think CG&E would have gotten this taken care of sooner? They never had a storm like this to deal with. I am 55 yrs old and have never seen wind like this from any other hurricanes.

THANKS AGAIN DUKE for the turn around.

Some positive things I saw from the storm: 1.

Thank you for your efforts Sheriff Jones
