So you have to start at the bottom of my posts and read up. If you are actually reading this thing then you probably don’t mind going out of your way a little!
of the most important things that I can do for myself is to make me laugh because even if you don’t think I am funny, I crack my self up.. I learned yesterday that doing “uncommon” and even down right strange things can take my self-amusement to another level of existence. Next time you try out for something, wait in a long line for something just to meet new people and have a few laughs, or take a road trip to somewhere off the beaten path, (I have already been to the Colonel Sanders museum s
suppose that I need that much congratulations for deciding to leave my house to go shop at a store but boy oh boy did that amuse me after the hideous amounts of coffee I consumed after no sleep….nada! We didn’t even really notice the cold. It was all about hanging out with a friend who you get too busy to see, meeting new like-minded people and by that I mean other people just like me who find doing something like this downright knee-slapping funny! I have realized throughou time that one
I now own a travel mug with the IKEA logo on it and print that clearly states I am to recieve free coffee for the rest of my life. It was fun to get the free frisbees, water bottles, pens, bookbags and tiny Sweedish flags. It was highly amusing for someone with my sense of humor to be greeted at the door by 400 employees in yellow shirts waving and banging inflatable eyllow bats. They were yelling, cheering and clapping (just for me!) as I rode the escalator to enter a store. I really don’t
was going on camera for an interview. It was fun to hold the 10ft tall girl on stilts’ hand so she could get over the rope to roam the crowd, searching for little kids to “high-5”. It was fun to watch the log sawing. It was fun to hear the Team Cincinnati choir sing in english followed by the Childrens Sweedish Choir and some milkmaids sing in Sweedish. It was fun to eat the doughnuts and meatballs they were giving to those of us waiting in line. It was fun to get free coffee for life since
You knew this was coming…IKEA!
My feet hurt and I’m tired. I have earned the right to use multiple run-on sentences and to insert many unnecessary commas in my writing. I stayed awake for 30 hours and then slept for 15 hours. Why? To go to IKEA. It was fun to rendevous before 4am. It was fun to dance to live music in the dark of the morning smack dab in front of the bright stage. It was fun to give the girl in front of me my purple ponytail holder because her’s had just broken and she

My friend & I took March 12th off of work the minute they announced the opening day. We got there aound 6AM & yes we froze, but it was well worth it!!! Ohio needed a place like Ikea (or as I like to call it.. the next best thing to Heaven!) It was VERY exciting to be a part of such an event!!! And to all the negative comments - no one said Ikea was for everyone! No one said you had to go. More goodies for us true Ikea fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been to Ikea stores in 2 continents prior to this one and its the same world wide. People LOVE Ikea, they love the concept, they love the fact that it’s different.
I was one of the people who spent hours in the freezing cold. My friend and I got there at 4:15am on opening day and didn’t leave until or feet told us too around 2pm. I had never gone to an IKEA before, but my friend had (she had brought me stuff back from the Chicago store). I had a great time. The entertainment was a lot of fun. The employees were very friendly. I bought the majority of the things I wanted, but I don’t live far away, so I will be back many more times in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!
While you may laugh at those who waited in line in the cold to be the first to enter Ikea, you should also pause and consider what is it about Ikea that makes people do that. I applaud any store that has such a mystique with its customers. Instead of laughing at the customers, figure out what Ikea does right to make people enjoy shopping there and adapt to your own business or line of work.
How very sad that OH gets so excited over a store. I thought it was really embarressing.A bunch of hicks outside for a damn store, and most of them didnt buy anything.
I did not go to the grand opening because I may have had a panic attack from all the people!!! I will be showing up this weekend, which for some reason, I feel there will be even more people present. I am very excited to see the IKEA products and the huge cafe.
People stood in line and camped out to get a $250 gift certificate, according to 700WLW news. They gave away 2500 certificates, or $625K. I drove there intending to ‘stop in’. The line was 30 minutes long just to turn into the parking lot.
The furniture is very plain, and much of it is unfinished. It is well made, and sturdy, and in my opinion, looks cool if you are into the sparse, euro look.
Too “artsy- fartsy” for me. Too many people. Furniture not my style. Good for the people of the area as it provides another choice and employment though. Camping out for this??? For a $99 chair??? Don’t know about that. Perhaps we have amoung us, people who need something viable to do in their lives.
WOW!!! it just a furniture store people, not a rock concert. People camping out and all that. And to my understanding, the stuff is not that great & is compareable to Value City. I guess im going to be camping out when the next lazy boy opens up LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t believe what a wonderful opportunity this was. It is very rare to be able to visit a retailer and give them my money! I would definitely camp out, wait in line, whatever, whenever for another opportunity like this one!! I hope IKEA is open for business again one day!
My daughter Jody and I arrived at the new IKEA store shortly after 9 am driving from Preble Co. It was an experience of a lifetime. We were like little kids in a candy store oohing and awing. There is just so much to look at and so much to choose from. The IKEA personal was all thru the store and constantly offering their help.I have never went to a store where everyone was so friendly and helpful. Of course we didn`t get everything we wanted so another trip will be in our future real soon. Judy M.
