To the Bat … pod? And other superhero stuff
Take a look at this picture:
Now, the fact that it says “The Dark Knight” in the picture kinda gives away the game, but it’s fun to imagine what Batman uses this funky-looking contraption for. Is it:
A: A barbell on steroids?
B: Bruce Wayne’s childhood Big Wheel?
C: A high-tech rolling pin or other cooking device?
As it turns out, this is Batman’s idea of a Harley, the Batpod. I guess calling it the Bat Cycle or even the Motorbat would be kinda ordinary, but the Batpod? I would have thought the Batpod would be the Dark Knight’s version of an MP3 player. (Rim shot)
And man, between the MASSIVE tires on this and the Batmobile, and all the material on the Batsuit, Wayne Enterprises must have a lock on the rubber market.
The movie comes out July 18.
Batman is also due to appear in the movie Justice League of America, also starring his buddies Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and so on and so forth. Warner Bros. is looking to ramp this up for a 2010 release, before a potential writer’s strike would halt film production. (A movie like this needs WRITERS? Imagine!)
A director has been signed: George Miller, who was last seen endangering tap-dancing penguins in the Oscar-winning Happy Feet. I like the choice, largely because this will be the first time Miller has made a full-on action movie since the last Mad Max film, and that was 22 (!) years ago.
No casting has been announced yet, though. It’s pretty much agreed that Christian Bale and Brandon Routh will not repeat their roles in this group-hug effort. So who should take up some of the roles? Jessica Biel has already turned down Wonder Woman, which is too bad - unlike the other shapely Jessica - Alba - Biel has some acting talent under all those curves. I like the idea of Rosario Dawson, but I have my doubts that this movie will happen at all. The last time WB tried to make a movie with more than one caped crusader - Batman vs. Superman - the project got kryptonited.

If that is Batty’s motorcycle, I’ll take the car instead. where do you put your feet? It never thought Batman the crotch-rocket type. Superman, most definitely, but Batman seems more the recumbent bike type, superfast, but laid back.
